so i took my Zoloft to late in the day, its now 1am and i cannot sleep so why not post some chapters?
the doctors weren't joking when they said the night would be rough.
for the better part of it, marius, vyn and artem were not allowed in her room. only essential personnel. which gave them plenty of time to discuss the story y/n had told marius on their way in.
"its clear she presents a risk of whistleblowing." artem said.
"yeah, if we treat her like shit." marius replied.
"but do we have the resources to take on the Pearce family. they are small but they are strong and well connected." Vyn asked.
marius typed a few things into his phone, swiping through the various emails he had received that involved the Pearce family.
"i mean, to me it seems like they are some backwater family that needs an attitude adjustment." Marius muttered.
his eyes squinted as he skimmed through every email he had. most of it eas about the family taking from shipments coming through the town, or in a different part of the city. it wasn't unusual for newer families to steal resources, but someone who was this well off shouldn't need it.
"what was the case Y/n managed to build against him?" Vyn questioned.
"he was charged with manslaughter, torture, assault, and kidnapping. extortion and blackmail. money laundering." Artem replied.
"how would a technicality get that paperwork dismissed so easily?" Marius snorted.
he clicked off the app and went to his contacts, drafting up a message for his apartment guard. she could stay with the three of them for the time being.
"probably the way she gathered the evidence. if he didn't know he was being recorded, the evidence was illegally obtained and therefore inadmissable." Artem said.
"seriously?"
"mhm, America has strict privacy and evidence submission laws." artem replied.
vyn sighed and looked around. he was itching to go see her. he wanted to know if she was alright, if she was still hurting, if she needed anything.
and he wasn't the only one.
marius kept on shaking his legs up and down, his eyes would flick up whenever a doctor would pass by him. he could barely focus on his email, just the young women being force fed charcoal solution in the trauma bay.
artem was trying his best. he knew out of the three boys he was the most stable and levelheaded in any situation. but it was becoming harder to contain his anger. just thinking about all the possible things y/n could've gone through made him want to wrap her in a blanket and take her somewhere safe.
not before killing that man, Luke, of course.
he ran a hand through his now messy hair and sat up.
"look, if the question is whether or not she should stay in the business, i think she should stay." Artem said.
"she did lie though." Vyn replied.
artem rolled his eyes. "you lie for a living, we all have lied to each other to get what we want. i think its kinda warranted for her to lie about everything that went on with her. you don't just introduce yourself as the ex-wife of a mob boss, or lead with the trauma you faces and the fact your under witness protection." he said.
"i understand, but in our case she should have."
"i didn't exactly recruit her in the best circumstance. are you really saying we should drop her?" artem accused.
vyns eyes became cold.
"obviously i am not saying that. i don't want her gone and you know that." he seethed.
"all i know is you-"
"okay enough!"
for the first time marius was the one to break the two boys out of an argument. normally it was vyn and marius that would battle back and forth, while artem would stand patiently while they figured it out. it was a little strange for him to be doing this.
"y/n doesn't need us fighting. and she cannot be outside of the family now. not with that monster after her. i am keeping her." Marius said.
artem and vyn let out a quiet sigh of relief. just as they did a nurse came walking over, a smile on her face.
"Mr. Von Hagen?" she asked.
marius nodded.
"your wife is now awake Mr- Von hagen. would you like to come and see her?"
marius shot up into the air and nodded. he tucked his phone into his back pocket as Vyn and Artem stood up aswell.
"ah, just her husband for now. we cant overwhelm her." the nurse apologized.
vyn and artem both fixed Marius with a hate filled glare before sitting back down. Marius could only feel a smug sense of satisfaction knowing he had made them jealous.
"right this way sir." the nurse said.
she brought him through the hospital and into a private room, where Y/n was hooked to a bunch of beeping machines.
"she might look a little scary, but she pulled through the treatment quite well. right now she should be sleeping off the pain medicine. but she can hear you." the nurse explained.
marius thanked her gravioulsy and watched her walk out. waiting until the door was pclosed before pulling a chair up beside y/n and sitting down.
"hello y/n." Marius said gently.
his hands were trembling slightly as he took her hand. a feeling of relief washed over him when he touched her. she didn't stir. there was a bruise on one of her cheeks, and a few marks on her neck. were they bite marks? he could see some of them held stitches.
it made him sick.
he brought his attention back to her face. her lovely, gorgeous face.
"i don tlike the fact you lied to me." he said quietly.
still no response.
"i don't like it, but i understand. i know why you had to do that. so i am not going to give you up to Luke. not ever." he said quietly.
he couldn't even fathom giving her up to someone else. the idea made his hand squeeze together.
her body shifted suddenly, and Y/ns eyes peeled open.
her muscles were sore, her stomach still tingling with the slightest bit of pain. but she was met with the comforting look in marius' eyes.
marius had a growing smile on his face. he was so happy to see her awake. not only awake, but she was calmer. much calmer. it made him feel better.
he examined her clouded eyes, trying to memorize every inch of them. he had never been so taken by someone. and yet, here she was, laying in front of him, having stolen his heart.
"thank you." she murmured softly.
"of course. once you can get out of here Vyn and Artem and I decided it would be best if we kept you closer to us. there's a floor beneath ours in our own hotel and we were wondering if you wouldn't mind staying there." marius said.
her head nodded. her whole body felt a million pounds heavier than it should've. her eyes were already beginning to droop down and close again.
"no need to thank me Y/n." he paused for a moment.
"id do anything to keep you safe."
if the first part of the story doesn't make sense its because i wrote some of it while half asleep. and then the other half i wrote at like 11 this morning.
anyways, im trying to post more frequently, school is almost over and so are exams. my birthday is in 2 days now! yay!
