this is from the POV of the police, so its a little different than the other chapters.

"hello? detective?"

"yes?"

the door opened quickly, and a young women in a neatly pressed uniform stepped in, she held a yellow folder in one hand, and a phone in the other.

"theres someone on the phone for you, a Mister NIcholas. he says he knows something about your missing person case." She said.

the detective raised his head, and eyed the phone suspiciously.

"how-"

"he gave me your name and the case number specifically, quickly now." the women said.

the detective snatched the phone and stood up, holding it to his ear.

"this is Detective M, how can i help you?"

"h-hello, this is Nicholas, i-im a worker at the movie theater by highway23." a shaky teenage voice said.

the detective brought out a notepad and pen, scribbling down the boys name, and the location he had just stated. he sniffled quietly.

"i heard you have information for me?" the detective asked.

"y-yes."

"well?"

he waited for a minute, listening to the shaky breathing on the other end of the phone.

"l-look im not supposed to be on my phone, they might catch me alright, i cant talk long. but this women, i had seen her missing picture on the news. she came in with these three men."

"right."

"w-well, well one of them had been in here before, i had watched him talk to my manager. not a real scary looking guy but he seemed to frighten him real badly. next thing i know these guys are walking in, demanding we hand over our cell phones, telling us that an important geust is coming in and if we talk about h-"

"get to the point." the detective hissed.

"s-sorry, w-well. the man came back, he had two other men, and a young women. Y/n with him."

"how did she look?" the detective asked eargerly.

"n-n-not good sir. there were bruises all over her face, cuts and other things. she looked really beaten up. real scared."

"how did you know to find me?"

"she was told to bring the three men snacks, they gave her a card to pay for them, and when she came over here she told me who she was. she asked me to call you, to tell you shed been kidnapped."

the detectives heart clenched tightly. it had been something they were the most worried for.

how could this happen! he had put people to watch over her home, and suddenly one night she vanishes! then he showed up in town not long after. the detective knew that it was all related somehow, someway.

he scratched his head, and wrote down some more notes.

"where are you now?"

"w-well, some men came in, they held up all these guns and yelled at us to go into the back. then all th-these alarms went off and now-"

"where are you now?" the detective pressed.

"im in the bathroom, we got the alarms turned off but some of the people are still here."

"im sending some people to you, stay where you are, and do not move. you have very valuable information for us. do you know if shes still alive?"

"i dont know. someone started yelling about her, she had run i think. i dont know." the boy said.

"thats fine. just stay where you are."

"youll be here?"

"i will, i promise. just dont move, stay hidden, and ill get you home safe." the detective promised.

"okay. goodbye."

"goodbye."

the line clicked off, and went dead.

the detective snatched up the yellow file and looked through it.

"whats this?" he asked the women in front of his desk.

"the ME was brought the body of a man, shot in the head and left in a warehouse about three weeks ago." the women said.

"right."

"look at the autopsy photos."

he flicked through the file, before landing on a photo. the cold, rotting face of Luke peirce stared back at him. making his heart sink.

"this cant be right." he muttered.

"luke peirce has been dead for three weeks, whoever has her is a new player in the case, and most likely the person who has had her this whole time. youve been investigating the wrong person fo rher kidnapping."

the detective slamed the file shut, and rubbed his forehead.

"alright, look, i need a squad sent out to the movie theater by highway 23. i need people ready to search the area, i want road blocks within ten miles of that place. paramedics on the scene, and dogs for a search party."

"what happened?"

"she escaped, but theres two different parties in that theater, one of them is the party i need, the other is probably a robber."

"understood, when do we need those ready by?"

"yesterday! move as fast as you can we dont have long!" the detective said.

he stood up quickly and straightened his clothing.

the women quickly walked out, Detective M hot on her heels.

this was the rbeak he needed. he was so close to finding her, he just prayed he wasnt to late.
