the room had gone dead silent. other than the quiet breathing of each person, and the blood rushing to Y/ns head, the room was still.

"do you not like it my love?" Lukes voice broke the moment.

she had gone stiffer than a board, and all the color drained from her face. her confidence had melted away, and she was left with nothing. nothing except that damn picture.

"what do you want?"

her voice was ringed with hatred, loathing, spite. any negative emotion, every ounce of her hatred was directed towards this single man.

Marius vyn and artem had each noticed her anger. and if they had found her scary before. it was nothing compared to the pure anger and hatred on her face now. she was ready for blood, and they were almost worried about the lengths she would go to get it.

"im glad you asked!"

luke smiled pleasantly, twisting some noodles onto his fork and taking a bite.

"i think you already know my first recquest. it would be for you, my lovely wife, to rejoin me back home." he began.

her knuckles turned white with the grip she held on the table.

"second of all, youll be rescinding your statements against me, and allow my record to be cleared once and for all."

"third of all, artem will plead guilty, no contest to the charges brought against him." Luke finished.

"your out of your mind!"

"theres no fucking way."

"do you really think we would ever agree to such a thing?"

y/n however, was silent. she was frozen in place, staring down at the photo of her smiling parents hugging her child body close.

she remembered when that photo was taken.

this was his checkmate. she was backed as far into a corner as she could possibly go. Y/n knew, when she moved out of her home she shouldve convinced her parents to come with her. but they insisted that they woul stay in their house. they said they would be a burden, that Y/n needed to try her best to forget them and make her own life better.

but she could never do such a thing. so she sent them parts of her paychecks when she could spare it.

if it had just been Y/ns life on the line she wouldnt have had a problem with refusing the offer that had been set on the table.

"im not asking you all to agree, im asking my-"

"what do we get in return?" Y/n asked.

her voice didnt waver, her eyes stared daggers at the picture in front of her. at that stupid picture.

lukes smile turned malicious, his eyes narrowed slightly and he rested his chin on his hand. he knew he had won. in fact, he knew there was no way for him to lose. not when he had someone so important to her in the palm of his hand. he just had to play his cards right now.

"your parents lives will be spared, although i want them out of my town. you know how much i hate sharing my toys." luke pouted.

his smile came back, just as bright as the day she met him.

how had someone so lovely turned into such a brutal monster?

"and?"

"and your boss wont ever hear from me or Jakob again. you wont ever have to come looking for me." Luke said.
