Luke tapped his fingers on the table in front of him. his leg was jumping up and down with nerves.
should he have done that? of course it would piss some people off but he didn't really care about that. he was more of worried about how his actions would effect her.
if she ran again he might not be able to find her.
his eyes scanned over the walls. pictures of her smiling, beautiful face looked back at him. pictures of her in a coffee shop, talking to her customers. she was always so good with people. he could only imagine how much of a good employee she was.
he sighed dreamily at the thought of her. seeing her today was amazing. it was exhilerating. he couldn't wait to see her again. he hadn't been this excited in months.
the door opened, revealing the person he had been waiting on.
jakob.
late as usual.
lukes face turned into a frown as he walked inside.
"why weren't you here on time." he asked.
jakob was sweating, profusely. he sat down, set is brief case in front of luke and refused to look at him. he was a shit lawyer, and a shit liar.
"i-i was sleeping." jakob said.
luke leaned forward and set his chin on his fist.
"you slept in late." he said.
jakob licked his pale lips and nodded, busying himself with opening his brief case and producing some files.
"i h-have gathered some evidence for this trial." he said.
luke watched him quietly as he pulled out sheets of paper and rearranged them.
"i would hope so." luke said.
jakob cleared his throat and slid over an old case file, lukes old case file.
"your going to need to prepare for the cross examination Mr. Pearce. no doubt Artem is going to try and hold you as an unreliable expert because of your past transgressions." jakob said.
"past transgressions? don't you know im not guilty of those things Mr. Jakob." luke said.
jakobs eyes flickered from luke to the file. he licked his lips again and nodded.
"r-right i meant th-"
"who did you speak to Mr. Jakob?" Luke asked.
he leaned over the table slightly, his opposing frame causing Jakob to shrink backwards. his eyes borrowed into the colorless grey eyes that jakob had. highlighted inside of them was nothing but fear.
"i-i didn't want to-"
"that's not what i asked."
"w-well-"
"spit it out, or do i need to convince you to do so? who have you been speaking with?"Luke growled.
his knuckles had turned white, and the remaining color in Jakobs face was gone.
"i tried to avoid them! i stayed on my side of the city just as i should but the other day, these men approached me!" jakob began.
"and?"
"they told me, they told me about what you had done. they showed me evidence." jakob said.
"who was this?"
"i don't know. they were just mercenaries. i don't know!" he exclaimed.
luke clenched his teeth, a sneer growing on his face.
