Before Jamie realized it, Wednesday evening had arrived, which had her rummaging through her closet, hoping to find something to wear. "I wish you would tell me more about this mystery guy, Jamie." She looked behind her to see her friend Grace on Skype on her laptop.
"We haven't been together very long, Grace."
"Yet you've slept in the same bed, and all you do at work is stare at your phone, waiting for him to text you back," Grace countered.
Jamie sighed and pulled out a maroon dress with a jeweled waist, then turned towards her computer. "What about this one?"
"It's perfect. Not too casual, and not too formal. Are you sure he didn't tell you where he was taking you? It would make this so much easier," she explained, still looking at her screen intently.
"He hasn't told me anything. Just that we are going to a nice restaurant, and then to the beach. That's it," Jamie answered with a shrug.
"I would take some sort of jacket if you're going to the beach. It's supposed to be cool out tonight." Grace watched her friend as she hung the dress to the side, then squatted down to look for shoes. "I wish you would at least give me a name to call him."
Jamie let out a sigh, "Fine, how about we call him... I don't know... James?" She couldn't help but chuckle as she continued her search.
"Why are you laughing?" Grace asked. "What's so funny about his name?"
"It's nothing, forget it," she smiled as she found a nice pair of flats, "What do you think of these?"
"Those are cute. Flats are always practical unless your date is outrageously tall," Grace replied. "You seem pretty smitten with this James guy already though. When did you meet?"
"Do you really want an honest answer to that question?" she asked with a smirk, finally standing up.
Grace nodded. "I'd like one, yes. I want to know who is making my best friend this happy, because I haven't seen you like this since high school."
"Five days ago," Jamie sort of mumbled.
"Five days ago... isn't that when you were at that convention to meet your Marvel guys?" Grace asked. "You never told me how that went by the way."
"It went great, obviously," she laughed. "But yes, I met him at the convention."
"So, is he a Marvel fan too, I guess?" Grace questioned. "I know I'm pestering, but I want to know the details girl!"
"Yea, he is a big Marvel fan. We, uh, met after an autograph signing actually," Jamie emerged from the bathroom wearing her dress, and sat down at her desk in front of the computer. "He's a real gentleman. I forgot to take my meds before going to the convention, and he helped me to calm down a bit when I started having an attack."
Grace smiled. "That's so sweet! There's not many people that recognize the signs of an attack, so I'm really glad he helped you." She was about to speak again when a knock sounded at Jamie's front door. "Who's that? Is he early? I want to meet him!"
"Seems so, I'll be right back." Jamie stood up from her chair and walked over to the door. She opened the door and stepped back as she saw Sebastian standing outside in a nice suit with a bouquet of flowers in hand.
"Wow," Sebastian stared at her for a moment, not quite believing what he was seeing. "You look amazing."
"Thanks. You too." Jamie stepped aside to allow him inside, closing the door behind him.
"These are for you," he smiled, handing her the flowers before placing a kiss on her cheek.
She blushed and hugged him tightly. "Thank you. I love them." He followed her into the kitchen as she found a vase and got it set it up. "Why don't you hang out here in the living room," Jamie suggested, "I just have to get off a skype call with my friend, and grab my bag."
