You Only Live Once

Chapter Forty-Eight

The morning of the Los Angeles premiere arrived quickly. Chris was away doing some last-minute press interviews, while Jamie started the long process of getting herself ready for that evening.

She took a shower then tightly braided her hair before twirling it into a bun. Pinning it up with a multicolored pin that had various gems within it. She inspected her work in the mirror, while playing with Sebastian's ring that sat on her right ring finger. "Alright... now for makeup then the dress."

Chris stopped at the house after interviews, quickly showering and changing for the event. Once he was ready, he knocked on Jamie's door. "Whenever you're ready, we can head out."

Jamie smiled as she finished her red lipstick before turning to open the bedroom door and allowing Chris to see her. "Is this too much?"

His eyes widened taking in the woman in front of him. "Not at all," Chris finally replied. "You look amazing."

Her cheeks turned a light pink as she smoothed her hands over her multicolored dress. "Thank you."

"You are going to grab everyone's attention today," he told her. "You almost ready to turn some heads?"

Jamie laughed and shrugged. "As ready as I can be."

Chris offered his arm for her. "Let's go then," he smiled.

She gently took his arm and let him lead her out of the house and to a black SUV. "Traveling in style tonight, I see."

"Of course," he said, opening the back door for her. "We're going to swing by Scott's place to pick up him, my mom and my sister, and then we'll be on our way."

"Okay!" She said happily. "I don't think I've met the whole family."

"Maybe one day I'll bring you to Boston, so you can meet everyone," Chris suggested, climbing into the car behind her.

Jamie nodded as she situated her dress. "I would love that. I hear good things about them from you all the time."

He grinned, "I think you'll love them."

"I think I will too, if they're anything like you," she agreed.

They drove the short distance to Scott's home. Jamie stayed in the vehicle while Chris went inside to get everyone.

When Scott opened the door, Jamie beamed at him. "Hi Scott."

"Hey!" He climbed up into the SUV and took a seat just behind Jamie. "How have you been?"

"Better now than I was," she admitted.

"That's always a good thing. You ready for this event?"

"I hope I am. I haven't seen Sebastian in person in several months now," she said softly. "It's... going to be a weird feeling."

Scott rested a hand on her shoulder. "We'll be right here with you."

Chris' mother and younger sister slid into the seat next to Jamie. Once the ladies were situated, Chris closed the door and went around to get into the passenger seat. He turned to look back as the driver started down the road.

"Mom, Shanna, this is Jamie. Jamie, this is my little sister, Shanna, and my mom, Lisa," he introduced.

"It's nice to finally meet you," Lisa greeted. "Chris has told us all about you."

"I hope they were good things," Jamie said softly.

Lisa nodded, "All good. He speaks very highly of you. So does Scott."

"Awe, guys," Jamie murmured, her cheeks flushing.

The five of them made small talk as they rode to the location for the premiere. Before getting out of the car, Chris turned back to the rest of the group.
