You Only Live Once

Chapter 50

Jamie and Sebastian had found a lovely apartment, not far from their favorite beach. From their patio they had a beautiful view of the ocean. The pair made sure to get a two bedroom, so that they had plenty of space for not only themselves, but for guests if anyone decided to visit.

Sebastian had taken Grace's phone number from Jamie's phone when she was in the shower one evening, a couple of weeks after moving into their new place. He knew it was a risk, but he also knew that she would be more than happy to help him out with his ideas.

Seb: Hey Grace. This is Sebastian Stan. I have a favor I'm hoping you can help with.

Grace: Sebastian? Woah. I never expected to hear from you. What's up?

Seb: Yeah - sorry. I kind of stole your number from Jamie's phone. Mind if I call you? So, she doesn't see any messages lol It's a surprise for her.

Grace: A surprise? I'm down.

Sebastian hit the call button and stepped out onto the balcony, knowing Jamie had just settled into their large bathtub to relax.

"Hey," Seb greeted when Grace answered.

"Hey yourself," Grace replied. "What's this surprise you have in store for my best friend?"

"I'll be blunt... I want to propose to Jamie, and I need your help," he said quickly.

Grace faltered. "Y-really? Oh my god Seb! That's amazing!"

He couldn't help but smile. "I really need your help though. I want to find her a ring that she will love, and I'll need her kept busy the day of while I get everything set up."

"Oh, that's easy. We haven't hung out in a while, so I know she'll be up for some girl time."

"Oh, thank god," Seb sighed. "Think you could take her to get some ideas on rings this week?" he asked. "I'd love to be able to set up the date night for our anniversary. It's cliche, but with my schedule it's also the best timing for me."

"Boy, let me send you the link to her Pinterest. She has a board all about jewelry she likes." Grace put Sebastian on speaker. "Let me get on the app and send you the link."

"I knew I could count on you," he laughed.

"Hell yes, you can," Grace laughed. "There. I sent it to you. You'll be able to scroll through and pick one out that's based on those. Although I think she'll love whatever you choose."

He scrolled through a little bit, seeing all the options she had. "This is perfect!" he exclaimed. "So, next Friday... if I give you some cash, think you could take her out for a girl's day? Lunch, nails, whatever you two want." Seb asked. "I am going to set up a little something for sunset at our favorite spot on the beach."

Grace smiled softly. "You're going to blow her away. I bet it's going to be absolutely amazing, Sebastian."

"I can hope anyway," he chortled.

"You will. I know you will."

He looked back into the apartment, seeing Jamie walk into the living room wearing one of his shirts. "Thanks for your help with this, I really appreciate it," he said to Grace as he watched Jamie in the kitchen.

"You're welcome, Sebastian. Just let me know when I'm needed. I'll text Jamie, okay?"

"Sounds good. Just remember - it's a secret," he chuckled. "She doesn't know I took your number from her phone, let alone anything else. But I'll reach out later this week, once I've picked out a ring."

Grace chuckled. "Sworn to secrecy. Got it. I'll be looking forward to it."

"Thanks again, Grace. I'll owe you one. Talk to you soon."
