Chapter Seventeen

AN: Double update for you lucky readers! *smut warning*

Jamie sat in her car in the parking lot. Her head back against the headrest, Chris' words echoing in her mind. Deep breaths...I got this...I can do this... Opening her door, she grabbed her bag from the passenger seat, and made her way inside the building.

Once at her desk, Jamie quickly wrote an email that she wanted to speak with Mr. Nolan, then started working on the latest case. It wasn't long until he responded, asking her to come to his office.

She grabbed her notice, that she had folded and placed inside an envelope, and made her way quickly to his office. "Good Morning Mr. Nolan," Jamie greeted as she sat across from him once more.

"Good morning Ms. Fields," he replied, returning the greeting. "You said that you wanted to speak with me?"

"Yes," Jamie answered, then pulled an envelope from her jacket pocket. "I wanted to formally let you know that I am putting my two weeks notice in today."

Mr. Nolan held his hand out, and took the envelope from her. "I see. And why is that?" He asked as he pulled the paper out to look it over.

"I've recently gotten a better opportunity, and I accepted it," Jamie answered simply.

Mr. Nolan studied her face before looking back down at the letter once again. "And what would this offer be?" he questioned, "You have been at this job for several years now. We would hate to lose you if there is something we can do to keep you here."

"If you don't mind me saying, it's rather personal Mr. Nolan. I know I have been here for a while now, but I would like to do something that's away from family looming over my every move."

"Very well," he nodded, "We of course expect you to finish your current tasks, but we will not give you any new clients. If you finish your current cases before your two weeks are up, we will make a decision on how you'd like to finish off your time with us at that point."

Jamie nodded and smiled at her boss. "Thank you for the time I have been with the company. I will pack my things a little at a time."

"You may take all the time you need, Ms. Fields," he stood, offering his hand out for a shake. "Please let us know if we can be of any help as you close out your cases."

She stood and shook Mr. Nolan's hand and nodded. "I will. Thank you for your time."

When Jamie returned to her desk, a vase of pastel pink roses were waiting for her, making her eyes widen. "What?" She sat at her desk and opened the card.

She quickly pulled out her phone and texted Sebastian with tears welling in her eyes.

Jamie: I love them Sebastian! Thank you!

Sebastian: I know you had a rough day yesterday, sweetheart.

I just wanted you to have something to help make things a little better for you.

I'm glad you like them.

Jamie: They're beautiful, thank you again.

I just got to my desk from seeing my boss.

I put in my two weeks today.

Sebastian: You're very welcome, dragă.
