"Ok class, let's get on with the rest of the exams," Professor Knight said and started calling up students to the simulator.

Joey went back to her seat with a very surprised Janelle.

"Were you planning on telling me that you're Dean Hardscrabble's niece?" Janelle whispered hitting her arm, Joey made an awkward face.

"I wanted to, but..."

"But what? You thought I would think differently of you?" She interrupted.

"I...I just wanted to make sure you were friends with me because I'm me, not Hardscrabbles family. Two kids in high school did that, they were only nice to me so they could get into MU." Janelles face fell into a frown, gently touching Joey's arm.

"Well good thing I already like you for you, so this Hardscrabble thing is really like a bonus," they both gave a small laugh.

Meanwhile, one of the students who was doing his exam, threw his head back too far and hit the dummy kids head with his horns. The head flew off the machine and sparks flew from it, hitting the bed frame and walls.

The fire immediately spread through the fake room, students screamed and ran out of the room.

"Everyone out! Now!" Professor Knight yelled.

The ROR's quickly got up and left, expect for Johnny he wanted to make Professor Knight got out safe. Janelle ran up the stairs, but Joey's wings got caught in the seat.

Hardscrabble helped escort Knight through the doors along with a few other students.

The fire had consumed the whole simulator and was spreading to Knights desk, the curtains and some of the seats.

Johnny noticed Joey struggling in her seat.

"We have to get out of here!" He yelled, the room started to fill with smoke, he coughed, running up to her side.

"My wing's stuck!" He grabbed her shoulders and tugged her away from the seat, it hurt but it came loose. She grabbed her jacket and they both ran towards the door.

A large wooden beam that was attached to the ceiling fell right infront of the doorway.

"No!" Joey coughed, looking back and Johnny who shared the same worried expression.

Meanwhile, everyone outside was yelling and coughing.

"Is everyone out? Anyone missing?" Professor Knight called out.

"Johnny! Where's Johnny?!" Chet screamed surveying the crowd on the courtyard.

"And Joey!" Janelle stepped forward, "Joey's not here either!" Abigail's heart dropped she turned and ran towards the doors, seeing them smoking. She tried to open them but they would budge.

"No...."

"There has to be another way out!" Johnny yelled, Joey looked around the room, then spotted it. The window.

"Hold this," She gave him her jacket, before grabbing his shoulders. "Are you good with heights?"

"What?" He yelled back, confused by her question.

"Hold on," She opened her wings, lifting Johnny up to hold his waist, his arms went around her torso as she jumped off the ground.

He screamed loudly, Joey turned her back to the closed window, her wing shattering the glass on impact. Pain shot through the veins in her wing, but she pressed on, still flapping them, seeing the rest of the class on the field.

"Look it's Joey and Johnny!" A classmate yelled, everyone turned to look at them.

Joey's wing gave out, they fell through a tree the branches scraping them, as they tumbled to the ground. Joey fell on her stomach and Johnny on his back. He groaned and coughed, unable to sit up and move his left arm.

"Josephine!" Hardscrabble flew over to them, kneeling on the ground next to Joey, touching her back and face gently. "Josephine, get up!"

Johnny squinted, the world was blurry. A loud ringing took place of any and all sounds. He saw his friends starting to run towards him. He saw Joey laying unconscious on the ground.

He then felt very tired, his eye lids grew heavier and heavier with each big breath he took.

Several hands started to grab him, he opened his eyes enough to see big red trucks surrounding the building and him being loaded onto a guerny and into an ambulance.

Joey also got put on one.

Johnny remembered a breathing mask being put on him. He saw Joey next to him and Hardscrabble siting on the far wall before everything went black.

A steady beeping rang through Joey's ears. She groaned, her whole body ached, but her back hurt the worst. She slowly blinked her eyes open, the world was bright causing her to squint.

"Josephine? Honey, can you hear me?"  Joey turned her head at the sound of her Aunts voice. She was sat on a small white chair, gently holding Joey's hand.

Joey glanced around the room. She was in the hospital, attached to several beeping machines. It was then she realized there was large cast on her wings, and several pillows keeping her propped up.

"What-" She immediately stared to cough, her throat was very dry.

"Here," Her Aunt say forward offering her a glass of water. She took a small sip then a large one.

"What happened?" Her voice was still gruff. Her Aunt put the cup down on the side table.

"There was a fire, you and Mr. Worthington got caught in the building. You flew out the window and cut your wing on the glass. You needed surgery to remove the glass," her Aunt spoke sadly, taking her hand in their own, rubbing her thumb over her knuckles.

"What did they do to my wing?" Joey asked softly. Her Aunt hesitated for a moment, eyes scanning the floor then back to her.

"A piece of glass was sticking out of your wing, but the Doctors couldn't just pull it out because it cut an artery, so they...had to doc a bit of your wing,"

"They cut off the end of my wings?"

"Just the tip of one of them, dear," Joey's head started to spin, her hands came up and covered her eyes. "You'll still be able to fly, it will just take some training and work," Her Aunt tried to reassure her, but Joey had stopped listening.

After a moment she changes the subject.

"Is he ok?"

"Yes, he broke his wrist and the nurses want to make sure he got all the smoke out of his system so you'll both be staying here for the next week."

"How long have I been here for?"

"2 days," Joey nodded.

"Great," She mumbled as a nurse came in with a small food tray. Joey's stomach growled, she eagerly accepted the tray while the nurse asked to speak to her Aunt privately.

After devouring the food on the tray, her Aunt came back into the room. She glanced up at her, seeing an equally confused expression.

"You have a visitor?"

"My parents?"

"Unfortunately, they won't get here until late afternoon today, because of the long drive,"

"Then who wants to see me?" Joey almost chucked at how awkward her Aunt was bring right now.

"Mr. Worthington,"
