Chapter 12: You're Lame

Johnny pulls again on the lecture hall door, again, it wouldn't budge.

"Why isn't this door opening?" He asks angrily, glanicng down at Joey. She was sitting beside the door on the floor with her laptop open.

"Because class got delayed," Joey cringed, looking up at Johnny. "All the staff had a surprise meeting and classes got delayed."

Johnny groaned loudly before sliding down the wall to sit beside her.

"So we ran all the way here for nothing?"

"Yup," She clicked her tounge, closing her laptop and setting it on top of the poster board.

"Well at least-" Johnny started.

"Josephine!" Both monsters turned to see Dean Hardscrabble rushing towards them with a very angry look on her face.

"Aunt Abigail-" Joey put her hands up in surrender and slowly stood up.

"Why didn't you come home last night?" Her Aunt demanded, her wings opened, blocking out the sun, she was truly scary without even trying.

"I was at the ROR's working on a project and accidentally fell asleep,"

"If my word counts for anything," Johnny piped in from the floor, Abigail glanced over Joey's shoulder at him with a raised eyebrow. "She's telling the truth, we both fell asleep. If I hadn't I would've woken her up and sent her home,"

"I'm sorry Aunt Abigail," Joey said, turning Abigail's attention back to her. She sighed loudly, placing her hands onto her shoulders.

"You should be, I'm fine if you want to stay at your dorm, but please send me a text or tell me so I don't think something bad happened, okay?"

"Okay, deal," Abigail removed her hands and sighed.

"Have a good day, Josephine," With that Abigail turned, opened her wings, and flew off.

"Should I be offended She didn't wish me a good day?" Johnny asked crossing his arm.

After presenting their project Johnny walked back to the ROR house to shower and change. He had a few hours before his next class.

As he was walking up to the building someone called his name.

"Heyo, there he is! Johhny!" Big Red, president of Jaws Theta Chi, approached the steps. Johnny gave a forced smile.

"Uh, hey, Big Red, what's up?"

"Just came to ask how the arms doing?" The other members of JOX stood behind him with toothy grins. Johnny, held up his wrist.

"Doing okay," He glanced between the members.

"Oh I'm glad, really, buddy, I am," The JOX members started to chuckle behind him. "Especially since this was the tipping point for JOX becoming better than The ROR's," Johnny's eyebrows rose.

"I'm sorry, what?" He asked, Big Red gave a loud laugh causing a few of the other students walking around to glance at them.

"Dude, you lost the last scare games, kicked out 2 of your last members, and now, you got your pathetic butt beat by a girl who has a better Roar than you,"

Big red and the others started to laugh hysterically, Johnny stood there shocked by their words. He opened his mouth to retaliate but was interrupted.

"Oh, just accept it, Johnny," Big Red leaned in close to his face. "You're lame,"

Johnny's eyes went wide, the others started laughing again.

"I mean, even Percy managed to get a girlfriend, man, and he's an idiot!" Georgie added, laughing more.

"You aren't even friends with the girl who saved you," Percy gave a harsh chuckle, coming up to him and hitting his shoulder before walking away. The others followed him, laughing wildly, leaving Johnny confused on the front steps.

"Johnny?" He turned, seeing Javi and Chip standing in the open doorway. "We gotta talk,"

Johnny walked inside the house and was instantly ambushed.

"They've been staying that stuff to us all day,"

"If we don't find another monster to join our frat we can't compete in the Scare games,"

"Maybe we shouldn't even sign up, you're in no condition to compete,"

Johnny spun around at that comment, getting right in Javi's face.

"We are competing. My arm is fine, and those guys are a bunch of idiots and cheaters," He turned his back to them and walked into the kitchen, reaching into the fridge to get a soda.

"What about a sixth member?" Chip asked, biting his nails.

Johnny went silent, thinking about what JOX had said.

Even Percy managed to get a girlfriend, man, and he's an idiot!

You aren't even friends with the girl who saved you,

An idea popped into his head, it was both the best and worst plan he had ever come up with.

"I have an idea, but I'll need your guys support on this," He turned to look at them, they nodded immediately.

"We trust you, Johnny," Javi stated, Johnny sighed, finishing his soda and heading out of the house.

Joey and Janelle were sitting on a picnic bench under a tree doing homework and chatting.

"I'm pretty sure the ROR's are gonna throw another party this coming weekend," Janelle stated, flipping through her textbook.

"And I care because....?" Joey gave a small laugh, not looking up from her notes.

"I wasn't sure how you still felt about Johnny, considering the whole, fire situation, but I figured I'd at least ask if you wanted to go,"

"Yeah, I'm good, don't need to be spending anymore time with Johnny, our project is done and that's all that matters," Joey said, flipping through her text book and writing something down.

"Uh huh, so you and Johnny aren't friends?" Janelle asked, Joey didn't look up.

"Nope, we have been forced to be around each other, believe me I don't want to hangout with him,"

"Well, I think he wants to hangout with you," Joey glanced up at Janelle, seeing her looking over her shoulder. Joey turned around seeing Johnny standing about 20 feet away with a bag under his arm and a tray of coffees.

"Oh you've got be kidding me," Joey mumbled, Janelle packed up her things and stood from the table.

"I'm going to go study in the library,"

"Wait, wait!" Janelle had already walked off and wasn't listening to anything Joey said. "Janelle!"

"Hey, funny seeing you here," Johnny mused, seeing down the tray and bag. Joey glared up at him.

"What're you doing?"

"We need to talk," He sat where Janelle had been, he seemed nervous.

"Did you bring me coffee? Again?" She looked between him and the tray. "Look Johnny, we agreed to not be friends, I don't want-"

"I can explain, please just let me get it all out before you say anything, please?" He held up his hand and cast like praying hands, Joey sighed, nodding for him to continue.

"I need a small Itty bitty favor,"

"Which is?"

"I need you to pretend to be my girlfriend,"
