"Hey, Elle," Joey said, putting down her empty soda can, putting her hands into her pockets. "What's up?"
'"What's up?' You wanna know what's up? Why are you sitting on Johnny Worhtington's lap and wearing his jacket?" She said through clenched teeth, grabbing her arm and leading her away from the guys over to the food table.
"I was going to tell you but...." She trailed off, she needed a convincing story. "But you were so busy studying for that big test I figured I'd wait until you had time to process what I was saying,"
"Do you really think I would have ignored you? I would've put that stuff down if you'd ask," She said softly, it was very reassuring. "Anyway, you and Johnny?"
Her eyebrows raised as she hit Joey's shoulder. Joey gave a forced chuckle and cleared her throat, glancing back at Johnny and Javi on the couch.
"...yeah, it's a shock for me too, but, um...we kinda connected in the hospital and it carried over," She wasn't technically lying to her.
"Just yesterday you said you wanted nothing to do with him, what did you guys talk about when I left?"
"He...well, he asked me out, and for some odd strange reason I said yes," Again, not another lie. Janelles face lit up.
"I'm happy for you," She wrapped her arms around Joey, being careful of the cast, holding her close. "You deserve this," Joey smiled and hugged her back.
Janelle pulled away and gave Joey a funny smile, looking over her shoulder.
Johnny had stood up and was walking towards them.
"I'm getting something to eat, would you like anything?"
"Some pizza sounds great right now," Joey said, following Johnny into the kitchen and opening the Pizza boxes.
"Who's that girl you were talking to?" He asked getting paper plates.
"Oh, that's Janelle, she's my roommate," Joey said sitting down on one of the island stools.
He made an interested noise and slid a plate of 2 slices of pizza towards her. She pulled the plate in front of her and took a big bite.
Johnny sat next to her and started eating his own pizza.
"Do you think we're convincing?" Joey asked with a smile after a few silent minutes. Johnny chuckled softly, picking up a napkin and leaning towards her. He gently wiped at the corners of her mouth.
"Big Red's in the hallway, laugh and act like I said something funny," He whispered, setting down the napkin.
Joey did just that.
She started to giggle, covering her mouth with her hand. Johnny started to laugh as well, Joey had a very contagious laugh.
"Okay, he's gone," Johnny said, after a moment, "Man, that dude had been such a pain recently,"
"Have you guys always been fighting like this?" Joey asked, finishing her Pizza slices.
"No, we were chill, up until last year." Johnny shook his head, explaining more when he saw Joey's confused expression. "I think he's holding a grudge because he lost last years Scare games, but thats his fault, he cheated."
"Oh, well either way he doesn't seem like a good person to hangout with," Joey said peering into the main hall, seeing him dancing, Johnny nodded to her statement.
"I didn't- I mean, did I push any boundaries tonight?" Johnny awkwardly stuttered.
"What?"
"When I put my arm around you or pulled you into my lap. Was that okay or do I need to tone it back?" He seemed genuine in his question.
