The next few days passed quickly, getting closer to the next event.
Joey was in the living room, playing video games with Chip, Reggie, and Javi when the next Scare Card arrived.
She had gotten quite close to the guys, and even started to enjoy their company.
"Oh come on!" Chip said, huffing, pitting down his controller. Reggie laughed with Joey.
"Haha! Told you I knew how to play!" Joey said, setting the controller onto the table. Leaning back and crossing her legs with a confident smile.
"Alright, you were right," Chip put his hands up in surrender, chuckling.
She was sitting next to Javi who was content just watching them play. Chip was sitting in the side chair beside the couch and Reggie was on the floor infront of the couch.
"Guys! We got another scare card!" Johnny opened the front door, Chet following close behind him. They came into the living room, Johnny sitting on Joey's free side. Chet sat next to Reggie on the floor.
"What's it say?" Javi asked, leaning on Joey's shoulder, trying to read the card.
"Hold on, hold on," Johnny said, ripping the envelope and pulling it out. He read it aloud.
"Children are toxic no matter where they're found, beware when those toxins cover the ground,"
"Sounds like the first challenge from last year," Reggie said chugging the rest of his soda, burping loudly.
"They wouldn't repeat a challenge or event, but they can make them very similar," Joey said, Johnny nodded.
"Probably another race and obstacle course," He chewed his bottom lip. He eyes went wide with a smile as he suddenly stood and ran to the backyard.
"Where are you going?" Joey called after him, but was already outside.
"He's gonna set up a fake course for us to practice on," Javi said with a sigh, standing from the couch, motioning for them to follow.
The others got up and went to the backyard. They stood on the back porch that led into the kitchen. Johnny was moving picnic benches, coolers and pool inflatables.
"Alright, we're gonna do this two times," Johnny said wiping the dirt off his hands. "Since we don't know what kind of obstacles there will be, we'll do one round of moving in between them and one only using them,"
The others nodded, murmering agreements. Johnny smiled, coming to stand on the deck with them.
"Great! Who wants to go first?" He asked, the others went silent. Reggie grunted, raising his hand excitedly.
Johnny nodded, gesturing for him to start.
He walked off the deck towards all the obstacles. He crawled, through them, being weary now of things around him. When he was halfway through the course, he slipped on a rock, falling face first into a bench.
"Oh yeah, I also put a bunch of rocks out on the yard," Johnny said "You okay, Bruiser?" Reggie game a thumbs up, standing and walking back to the porch.
Chip was next, he was fairly big, so he was always cautious about the things around him. He was quite agile, climbing through the benchs and inflatables without touching them.
He got to where Reggie had fallen, carefully moving on his hands and knees through them. He reached the end, putting his hands up proudly.
The others cheered and clapped for him.
