Chapter 27: Nathan's POV

"Cara he's waking up." She's immediately by his side.

"Good thing we left Tess' house in time, right Nathan?"

"Yeah, and we also had time to get the bodies out of her house. Cara, do you really think Ms. A will be able to clean everything before Tess gets home?"

"I don't think so, there was some blood and a lot of tables turned, I could check though, we're still not that far away, so maybe I can still read her thoughts."

"Does Keith need anything? Like water or something?"

"Not for now but thanks Nathan."

While she's focusing on Keith, I take a small walk not too far from them in case they need anything.

'Where could her brother be?'

As I think to my self I turn a corner and I get a scent of a lycan near by. I stop and sniff the air. I start looking around and I know the lycan is near but I can't locate him. I let my lycan, Star, take over for a bit so I can get a better smell. I focus on a corner and sure enough a few moments later there he is. A young man. It has to be Austin. I decide not to go towards him. He makes eye contact with me, and as soon as he does I decide to turn back around towards Cara and Keith.

I can sense him following me but he keeps a good distance away. I let my mind block down so Cara can hear me.

'Cara I'm pretty sure I found Austin, and he's following me, I'm coming towards you.'

Before I let her protest I put my mind block back up. I'm 99% positive it's Austin, he doesn't look that different from the photo we got. I turn one more corner and see Keith sitting up. I start walking towards him but he tackles me in a blink of an eye with his vampire speed.

"Keith no! Get off him!"

"Cara what's wrong with him?"

"Well vampires and lycans don't really get along...and since he's new the vampire instincts are just kicking in."

"He'll remember his friends right?"

"Yeah don't worry Nathan it'll just take him a while to get used to it, he's going to start craving blood, so I suggest we go hunting, and with our new acquaintance."

"Cara Ross."

"Austin Hunter."

I turn around. Austin is walking towards me. He offers me his hand. I accept and he helps me stand up. 

"Where's my sister?"

"Wait." I interrupt "You know about your sister?"

"Of course, Noon told me."

I just look at Cara.

"Excuse me, who's Noon?" asks Keith.

"My lycan, and Midnight's brother."

"Ms. A told us about Noon. You were unconscious babe."

"So you know what's going on?" I look at Austin.

"Of course, my sister and I are being hunted because we are a couple of the few known lycans that are related to the very first original lycan, our great uncle."

I just look at him dumbfounded.

"Wow. You really do know what's going on." Cara says just as dumbfounded as I am.

"Yeah I do. So are we going to go hunting or not?"

"Yeah, yeah, of course."

"Cara, I think we need to tell Mr. Hale about Keith, he could help him control his vampire instincts."

"No way! Why go to the feared headmaster when we can just go to Nurse Baker?"

"Cara, you and I both know that only Mr. Hale, a vampire, can help." I insist.

She just growls knowing that I'm right.

"Fine."

Keith just starts walking right beside Cara holding her hand. While they're up ahead leading the way to the woods for hunting I make small talk with Austin.

"So, Austin do Midnight and Noon talk?"

"Well from what I know they haven't talked to each other in over 2 centuries."

"Wow that's quite the sibling issues."

"Tell me about it."

"When was the last time you saw Tess?"

"Not long. A few hours ago actually."

"Wait, what?"

"Yeah I saw her like, a few hours ago, it's 7 right now, so yeah I saw her around 4. I think she was on date with some guy, I could sense he was also a lycan. I did manage to catch his name, I think it was, Edwin."

"What?!"

"You know him?"

"Know him?! Austin, I hate him."

I can't believe this.

"Cara you heard him right?"

"Yes Nathan, I heard him."

"He could be taking advantage of this situation!"

"Nathan calm down! Okay, I know this seems bad, but Midnight will do whatever possible to make sure Edwin doesn't do anything."

"Did something happen between you and this Edwin fellow?"

"Not me, but him and Tess."

"What happened?"

"Well he kinda broke her heart."

"What?!"

His eyes instantly change color. Wow talk about big brother instincts. Cara turns around and gives me a glare.

"What Cara?"

"Don't make him upset. His big brother instincts along with being a lycan might not be a good mix."

"Sorry, but you know he did."

"I know, but then I broke his fingers, ribs, leg, and face. So it's okay."

Austin immediately gets calmer.

"Very nice, Cara."

I then look at Austin.
"How old are you Austin?"

"I recently turned 20. I'm 2 years older than Tess."

After that small talk we just continue walking in silence.

"Cara how much further would you say we're from the Academy?"

"About an hour, why?"

"I'd say now is a good distance to let Keith try out his new speed. We'll be right behind you and him."

"Good call, okay babe go for it."

Keith takes off. And we run behind them.

"Austin once we're done hunting you're going to have to wait a few feet away from the Academy while Mr. Hale helps Keith. We don't want anyone to know who you are."

"Got it Nathan, that won't be a problem."
