Chapter 30: Tess' POV

I don't believe her.

"If you're not my mom then who the hell are you?!"

"Please Tess, just calm down."

Calm down?! This lady is crazy!

"How can I calm down if the woman I thought I knew is a total fraud!"

"Just please, listen to what I have to say."

"You've said enough. My parents died, in some war, and you're what? My aunt? Third cousin? Are you even related to me!?"

I try to hold back the tears. She tries to comfort me. I push her away. Letting out the tears.

"You're nothing to me." I can feel that it hurt her.

"Please Tess don't say that." I can hear her starting to sob.

"Well what do you want me to say?"

"Anything but that, I've taken care of you since you were a baby."

"No, you've been lying to me since I was a baby!" I wipe away the tears.

"Why couldn't you just tell me?!"

"I wasn't allowed to until you were ready."

"Ready?! Ready for what?! I have amnesia!! I don't remember anything! The one thing I thought I remembered is a lie!"

I punch the wall making a big hole in it.

"Anything else I should know about?"

I see her sitting on the bed, her eyes starting to get puffy from the tears. I don't bother wiping my eyes anymore.

"Be careful around Edwin."

"Excuse me?"

"You have to be careful around him."

"Why should I? He's the only one who hasn't lied to me!"

"Don't be so certain about that. Tess I want you to go into the woods, and just continue walking straight, whether you notice it or not, Midnight will guide you to the Academy."

"What the hell? Who's Midnight? And why should I believe anything you say?"

I can hear the door open and Edwin enters into the room.

"Edwin what are you doing here? I thought you went home."

"You thought wrong Elizabeth."

"What's your problem? Don't talk to her like that."

"Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to disrespect your 'mom'."

I just look back at her and back at Edwin. I go to him to hug him but he pushes me to the floor.

"Edwin?! What the hell?!!"

I get back up but this time he goes for Elizabeth. I run towards them and try to get Edwin off.

"Edwin get off her!"

"What do you care Tess, she's nothing to you!"

Next thing I know I grab him and pin him on the floor choking him. He kicks me off and I hit my temple near the edge of the bed.

Everything goes a little blurry. I can barley see Edwin going again to attack Elizabeth. I can barely make out what he says.

"David will be happy to get you out of the way, he'll send more slayers to attack you. While they're busy with you I'll take Tess far away where no one will find her, not even her friends."

My vision starts to come back to normal. I see Edwin coming closer to me. He's a few inches away from me, when out of nowhere he's tackled to the ground.
"Edwin?! What are you doing?!"

"None of your business Ryder!"

I see Edwin stab Ryder with a small dagger. Edwin just leaves him there with the dagger in him. He comes towards me again.

"Let's go babe."

"Stay away from me!"

As I'm backing up I feel some broken glass, I take a piece and stab him on his right calf.

He grabs me by the hair and throws me again, hitting my temple again, this time harder.

"I'll be back later babe." He runs out in unbelievable speed.

"Don't worry Tess, he was lying about the slayers. He was just bluffing."

That's the last thing I hear before I pass out.
