The monster wailed as a sword pierced its heart, excruciating pain flowing through its very vains. It was barely a second later that it croaked, before crumbling into dust.
The young woman exhaled as she brought her katana back to her side. She had with long chestnut brown hair tied into twin tails and violet eyes. She wore a large white cloak over the rest of her clothes. Turning her head, she observed her partner in action.
Another young woman, this one with shorter blue hair with a single green bang at the front, and brown eyes. She ducked under a wild swing from a brutish looking stray, and swung her own weapon, a massive sword that was almost the size of its wielder, and cleaved the stray right in two.
As another bear like stray bounded towards her, she used her immense blade to block the incoming punch, before thrusting it forwards, piercing the stray and subsequently anhililating it.
A fourth stray snuck up behind the brown haired girl as she watched her partner fight. It raised a feathered arm and struck down, only for its head to fall clean off.
Sighing, she swung her katana around, wiping off the blood.
"That's the last of them for now." The blue haired girl said, sheathing her sword. "What on earth is happening in this city? For a city overseen by devils, they can't seem to even take their own trash out correctly."
The brown haired woman groaned. "Seriously, like, why are they so many of them? To think the place I grew up in has devolved into such a state..."
Irina Shidou sighed sadly as her katana glowed bright before shape shifting into a white bracelet.
"The only possible explanation would be..." Her partner, Xenovia Quarta, grimaced at the thought that ran through her mind.
"Have we located the devils' hideout?" Xenovia then asked, trying to change the topic.
Irina nodded. "Yup yup yup! Kuoh Academy. I remember it from when I lived here- it used to be an all-girls school."
Xenovia scowled. "Those wretched devils. Forcefully turning a school co-ed? To taint the minds of pure maidens no doubt."
"We'll head there in a few days." Xenovia said. "As much as I hate even being in the presence of devils, we need to in order to operate in this town."
Irina sighed again. "The people living here are in so much danger, and they don't even realize it. And they won't, until it's too late."
...
A loud laugh made Issei grumble angrily once more. The pawn laid miserably on a luxurious couch as Z laughed at him.
"You're telling me I was your first pact?"
"First successful pact." Issei corrected through his teeth. But that wasn't much better. Z didn't seem to think so as he kept laughing.
Eventually, the man calmed down. "Ah whatever. We've all gotta start somewhere, right?"
Issei sighed. "I guess so."
"Oh lighten up, kid. I was just messing with ya!" Z said, standing up to refresh his drinks. "Never thought devils would have to worry about such mundane problems. Don't you guys live basically forever?"
Issei pondered on that for a moment. "I... guess we do..." It wasn't something he had really though of all that much.
"Well, what's done is done." Z poured himself some more alcohol before returning to the living room. "Speaking of that stuff, I'm pretty curious. What other kinds of people summon you? What kinds of things do they ask of you?"
