"Sir, if you don't mind me asking..." Kokabiel looked over at Raymond, who was standing by his desk.

"Speak your mind." He replied.

"That... stray you captured." Raymond said. "Is it really worth it? You've already captured more than enough dogs."

Kokabiel snickered. "Obviously, it's not necessary. But really, we can't ever have enough firepower on our side, can we?"

"I... suppose. But why...?"

"Raymond, you should know this by now." Kokabiel sighed at the question.

"Mindless violence is my favorite kind."

...

"Urk!" Xenovia grunted as an astonishingly powerful force smashed into the blunt side of her excalibur destruction.

The force was enough to knock her away, but she planted her feet firmly on the ground and stayed standing. But that didn't stop the wild throbbing in them.

"Just what kind of monstrosity is this?" She wondered in gritted teeth.

They had been lured into a trap. She had to admit it. Even if it wasn't done on purpose, that was exactly what had happened.

Irina yipped as a barrage of iron like barbs came crashing down at her like missiles. With expert acrobatics, she twirled out of the way of them all, but she was almost caught several times.

By the end of it, she jumped back to regroup with Xenovia, who had just fully recovered from taking the previous blow.

"So, uh... any plans here? We weren't really expecting to run into a stray devil right now."

Xenovia scowled. "That was pure stupidity on our part." She growled.

Of course. The number of strays in this city had increased dramatically over the past month. But why? There had never been a good explanation for it.

But the answer was right in front of them the entire time.

Stray devils are simple creatures. After running away from their masters, they lose control of the power granted to them, and so it attempts to escape their body as violently as possible.

Sometimes this results in the stray exploding and dying instantly.

That is the most merciful that potentially awaits stray devils.

Because the other option is what's standing right in front of them.

At what had to be at least a dozen feet tall, and over twenty feet long was a massive monstrosity that defied common sense. It had a muscular, fur covered body similar to a tiger, but had six limbs instead of four. But it was shaped more like a turtle, with a shell on its back. On that shell was dozens of razor sharp steel-like spikes.

About eight of those spikes slowly retracted from their extended form, hissing as they shrank back into their original position on the stray's back.

But the most terrifying and nightmarish aspect was its face.

Its warped and bloated face, was that of a human male.

So, what in this world attracted these creatures?

Power.

After losing themselves to their power, stray devils only have one instinct keeping their bodies moving.

And that is the desire to feed.

The stray's face opened its mouth, revealing its long, sharp and distinctively non human teeth. It roared a monstrous roar. A sound that Xenovia was certain could be heard far throughout the town.
