Rae's POV:

I waited there for about 2 minutes or so, helping the workers clean up the mess. The table that had their drinks spilled got their drinks from another waiter while I saw Thomas come back with two towels in his hands. He was super red and I didn't blame him. Must be super embarrassing to have to deal with this kind of thing all day.

"Ummm... here you go..." He said to me with an apologetic look in his eye as he extended his right hand forward to give me the towels.

"Thank you, so much! I'm so sorry about all of this, I should've looked before I stepped out." I said taking responsibility. I could barely muster up a sentence, since I couldn't believe I was meeting him after all this time. I took the towels from him and began drying myself off.

"No no no, it's my fault. I should've looked where I was going." He said as I finished drying off my dress and looked up at him.

He looked really different. Well, not too different from the last time I saw him, which was senior year, but he was still in that new glow up state that he went through in between junior and senior year.

"Is there uh... anything else you needed Rachel?" He asked me very shyly, while I was borderline admiring him. His introverted persona still seemed to be exactly the same as I always knew it to be, which I was really glad about.

"Well, maybe a phone number? I mean, I don't think we've talked to each other since junior, so it would be nice to, I don't know, grab some lunch and catch up sometime?" I asked him in hopes that it maybe wasn't too late to start all over with him.

"Oh... yeah o-of course!" He said as he took out his note pad and began frantically writing down his number. I tried to resist giggling at the sight of it.

"C'mon Rae, let's go!" Toast said from the lounge area at the entrance of the bar.

"Just a second!" I yelled back, not too loud as I didn't want to disturb the nearby tables. He finished writing and tore off the slip of paper.

"Well, here you go. I can't talk to you now, well obviously... but if you're available tomorrow then I'm also available." He said extending his hand once more. I took the slip and handed back the towels he gave me.

"Yeah I'm free tomorrow! Does 12:30 work for you?" I asked with a big smile on my face as always.

"Yes that works for me! Well I'll see you then Rachel!" He said with a big smile and a euphoric tone. I couldn't help but giggle a little at how cute he was being.

"Cya Thomas... and please... call me Rae, okay?" I said to him as I began to walk away. He turned around and got back to work, but I stared at him a bit longer. I still wasn't used to his glow up phase that everyone knew him from. I even remember the first day he came into school senior year, everyone thought he was a new student...

*Flashback*

I was sitting with my usual group of girl friends that I would always sit with for lunch, Leslie, Wendy, Lily, Imane, Jodi, Celine, Janet, Tina, and Brooke. We were just talking like usual. Mostly about Lily's new relationship with Michael at the time.

"Congrats Lily! Are you gonna stick with him after high school?" Wendy asked Lily as soon as she announced that the two were now dating.

"I hope I will! We both are really flexible with what we wanna do, but I think he wants to do coding and I want to do art or music soooo hopefully we'll stay together." Lily said as she looked over at the guys table in our friend group and smiled at Michael showing a heart symbol. Michael looked back at her and smiled as well.
