Under the Bleachers(Worth the wait #4)

Rae's POV:

We pulled into the driveway of our house. We lived in a content creation house that was originally meant to just save money in rent, up until we actually started pulling in views. We aren't blowing up or anything like that, and we are still kinda just living together for the sake of rent, but it's also been really fun to just live with my high school friends. However, I would be lying if I said there weren't any slight pet peeves or down sides to living with them.

Poki, as much as I love her, is really clumsy. She constantly drops expensive items, trips on wires and knocks over electronics, has burnt and set food on fire an embarrassing amount of times, she's even fallen down the stairs on multiple occasions, a lot of times breaking food plates in the process. I don't know why or how she even does it, but she inadvertently costs us almost as much as if all of us were to live separately, according to Toast at least.

Corpse is way too lazy. He always sleeps in far too much, a lot of times missing work, which also fucks both Imane and I over as well because he's our ride to work sometimes. It also doesn't help that he gets MEGA pissed if anyone dares to wake him up. We have to do rock paper scissors every few days just to see who has to go up there and 'poke the bear' as Imane likes to call it. He often either forgets to do his fair share of cleaning or house maintenance or he gives us some bullshit excuse for why he didn't do it.

Toast is... well Toast. He's his usual sarcastic, know it all self, whatever that's worth. He's no doubt smarter than all of us, as he boasts all the time, but I also think it's safe to say he's got an ego problem. He always loves to be fed compliments and always figures things out for himself, since apparently we're all unworthy of confronting him on anything. For that reason he always came off as condescending about 95% of time, which I got used to and all, but it could definitely get on your nerves a bit. However he occasionally does some pretty cute and wholesome things! Like one night when Corpse crashed on the couch and the blankets fell off of him, Toast picked them all back up and tucked him back in. Not very common, but cute little things he does.

I do love them all though, as annoying as they can be sometimes. And besides, it's not like I'm exactly the perfect roommate either. I've had a slight temper problem since I was born. It's never been too too bad, and it's definitely gotten better since I was young, but I've always been super self conscious about it. Ever since I got into high school, I've always tried to act extra nice and friendly whenever someone new speaks to me, which admittedly has backfired before with some particular horny jerks from way back when.

I guess this kind of behavior never really enabled me to open up about how I truly feel on the inside at some points in my life. I guess that's how I started to kind of like Thomas way back when. I remember opening up to him from back in high school on multiple occasions after I met him, and I also remember just how seamless it all felt. I hope he's the same way now!

"Rae! Are you coming?" I heard Toast ask from outside the car right at my door. This made me jump and snap back to reality and realize I was still just sitting in the empty car right in front of our house.

"Oh yeah! Sorry I was just thinking about... stuff..." I said, just hearing the lying tone in my voice that I'm sure he could also sense from a mile away.

I unbuckled my seatbelt and opened the car door as Toast backed away to give me room to open it fully. We both walked side by side up to the front door which had been opened a slight crack due to Corpse and Poki leaving it open just a smidge for us. I kinda wish they hadn't though, because tonight was actually strangely chilly for a night in California.

(I live in New England so I don't know if it ever does actually get 'chilly' in California like ever, so apologies in advance. Why the fuck am I even worrying about this little detail! It's not even important in any way, shape or form!)
