Destined Since Childhood (Prologue)

AN: This'll be a short chapter, but then again it's just a prologue sooo... what do you want from me. I considered making this into a full on story, but just decided it would be the prologue and then two chapters after that.

Time is set to a High School setting. I know that Rae and Sykkuno have really only been friends for like 2-2 and a half years, but their friendship always feels as though it's lasted way longer than that, so I wanted to capture that in this little story.

Also just pretend that Rae and Sykkuno are like the same exact age in this, cause I know they're separated by like a year or a year and a half or so? Whatever, in this AU they're the same age.

Thomas' POV:

*Flashback: August 6th, 1999*

I was playing with the basket ball in my driveway. Dad says that I'm not tall enough to reach the basket yet, but one day I will be. Just you wait.

In the mean time I gotta manage to make a basket by throwing the ball before I could do what dad does and dunk it in so good. I've been out here for so long that I've started to take breaks to eat some popsicles. I don't know why mom gave me two. Yeah I'll be out here for a while, but while I eat one, the other's just gonna melt! And nobody likes a melted popsicle!

I was trying so hard to make it in. It was my number one goal in like right now. And you could only imagine my shock and surprise when I threw the ball and it actually hit the rim! It wasn't a basket, but it was as close as I've gotten so far! What I didn't expect was for the ball to ricochet off the rim and hit someone as they past by. It was a little girl, on a pink bicycle riding steadily along the road of the suburbs until she was hit by the ball flying towards her and fell to the ground. Luckily she was wearing knee pads, elbow pads, and a helmet, so she wasn't really bleeding at all. It did leave her with some scraped up hands and legs.

"Ow!" She yelled out in pain upon hitting the pavement of the sidewalk. I rushed over to collect the ball, and stopped when I realized she was in pain. I walked towards her and realized she was crying. I've never really talked with kids my age, so I felt really bed about hurting her.

"Hey? Are you okay?" I asked her as she looked up at me with tears in her eyes. She was a really pretty girl. Wasn't very fun to see her in tears because of me. I knelt down to talk to her as she just kept crying and holding onto her leg. I wanted to do anything to stop the crying so I decided to gift her something.

"I'm sorry, look at me! Please don't cry? Oh! Here, I have something for you!" I told her as I got up and ran over to the nearby table that I kept the popsicle on. She looked at me, really confused as I rushed back over and delivered her the popsicle.

"Th-Thanks." She said with a stutter as she sniffled, still recovering from her tears as she took it from me. She opened it up and saw that it was already quite melted.

"Sorry! It's a little melted already. Here, I'll go get you a new one!" I told her as I was about to get up and follow what I had just said, but she stopped me.

"Wait!" She yelled out, causing me to jump. I looked back at her to see her wipe her tears away with her hand as she looked up at me. "Don't go!" She asked of me as I sat back down. 

"You don't want me to get you a new one?" I asked confused.

"No. This one's fine, I like this one." She announced, finally cracking a smile since I first saw her. Some dried up tears were still in her eye so I brushed them away. I was more or less confused at her comment. She liked melted popsicles?
