Stephanie's P.O.V.

After my awkward experience with Miles, I go "home", if that's what you want to call my apartment, and unload groceries before crawling in bed, setting my alarm clock, and falling asleep.

I sleep away the day, and all the way to the next morning. My alarm clock rings at 5 and I regret setting it an hour and a half before I have to be at work. That's what I've decided to call my internship since it is paying.

I take my time in the shower, washing my hair. I climb out of the shower and immediately straighten it, so it hangs totally flat. Then I pull on a white button up tank top with a collar, and a pair of khakis. Semi-casual. I slip on a pair of black ballet flats. and leave my hair hanging on my shoulders as I go out to the kitchen. I'm to nervous to eat so I pack my bag instead. It's a plain black bag that I've had for awhile. I put in my notebooks, pens and other office supplies and my laptop. Then i grab my wallet and phone and walk out of the apartment.

It's chilly as I walk down the street, and I wish I'd worn a jacket. Thankfully, the walk is short lived as is the cold. I step into the lobby of the tall, sophisticated building. There is black and white everywhere. The whole room has sharp, clean lines and it generally looks hard.

I approach the front desk. My heart is hammering.

"Hi, uh I'm here for the...my internship er job shadowing thing." I stutter.

The lady at the desk looks up from her computer. In my hurry to get here, I managed to forget to put on my makeup....

"It's on the eleventh floor." Her face barely moves when she talks. She then goes back to her computer.

"Um, who should I look for? Or ask for?" I ask.

"Go to the front desk on the eleventh floor." She doesn't even look up from her computer this time. She goes back to typing and I know our conversation is over.

I suck it up and walk towards the elevator. When I press the button the door immediately opens and I step in, pressing the 11 button. As soon as my finger pushes the button in, the door zips closed and the elevatir shoots up. It shocks me so much and it's going so fast I'm knocked to the ground. Unfortunately we pass by the eleventh floor and go up to the fifteenth. I still can't find the strength to pull myself from the ground until the elevator gives a polite little ding and the doors slide open again.

And in steps a very familiar looking head of black hair......MILES! He's wearing a white dress shirt, black slacks, and a black tie. His dress shoes, which I'm very close to at this point, are so shiny I can see my reflection.

"Stephanie?!?" Miles asks, looking at me off the ground.

He shakes off the shock and holds out a hand. I take it as he pulls me to my feet.

"This elevator....moves really fast." I look down at my feet and smooth my shirt down.

"Yeah." he chuckles.

"What are you doing here?" I ask as he presses the 11 key. As the doors slide closed I grip the railings around the elevator so I don't go flying up through the ceiling.

"I work here." He smiles. "On your floor actually."

Thank God! I'll actually know someone. "That's so cool! WHy didn't you tell me when you aved me at the airport?" I ask as my stomach bottoms out.

"I wanted to surprise you. I just didn't think I'd surprise you while you were sitting on the elevator floor...." He laughs again.

"Yeah I'm full of surprises." I laugh.

We sit around for what feels like forever. Niall collapses on the couch when I get up to stand, and immediately falls asleep. I guess he was up most of the night with Ally. Ally falls asleep to, and Ash plays with her phone.

"Do you want to take a walk?" I ask Ash quietly.

"Anything to get out of here." She says and stands up, then hesitates. "Are you sure we should leave? What if the doctor comes back?"

"What if the Earth falls out of orbit. There are a lot of what ifs now lets go." I hold the doo open.

She rolls her eyes but walks out anyways. We walk through the hall and out through the emergency room into fresh air.

Ashley inhales deeply. "I smeel hospital air way to much."

"When are you going to have to go home?" I ask, stuffng my hands in my pockets as she sits down on the bench across from me. I lean back against the brick wall.

"Probably tomorrow or the day after. I should get back for the rest of my treatement." She says.

"It's going to suck when you leave. I'll have to stay in the same tiny room with just Niall and Ally." I sigh.

"You don't have to worry about and physical activity between them with Ally throwing up the way she is." Ash says. "Or at least I hope not....."

"Yeah...." I shudder at the thought. "So have you heard anything from Steph?"

She sighs. "If I hear anything I'll tell you Haz. She probably needs some time to think."

"I don't have time! I want her back here now." I argue.

"Yeah, well you shouldn't have sent her away then." Ash fires back.

"Okay then. I remember you being more sympathetic...." I trail off.

"You going out and getting drunk didn't hurt anyone but yourself. Now you're hurting people around you too so maybe that's why you're not getting my sympathy." Ash says.

        Well then.

Harry's P

"Who said I wanted your sympathy?" I ask, crossing my arms. She won't get the last word.

"Nobody. With all your complaining I just assumed thats what you wanted..." Ash says and then shakes her head. "I'm sorry that was mean..."

I sigh and run my hands through my hair.

"It's fine." I huff. I can't stand apologizing.

"I'm just so sick of being in a hospital." She sighs. "Not how I planned to spend my last dying days."

"You're not dying." I order her to not die. "And you don't have to be here. Who am I kidding, I don't have to be here!"

"You care about Ally." She looks me directly in the eyes.

"No, I do not." I argue.

"Yes you do." She says. "And even if you don't care about her, you do care about Stephanie, and she is Stephanie's best friend."

"Bad choice on Stephanie's part." I mutter under my breath.
