Stephanie's P.O.V.
When I wake up in the morning, or should I say early afternoon, I have a pounding headache and my mouth is dry. I roll over and immediately realize I'm not in mine and Harry's bed...Harry's bed. It was never truly mine. I'm in a much larger bed. Thinking back, I realize it's Miles' but I'm not sure why I'm in it.
A sudden thought comes to mind and I rip back the covers, holding my breath, which I let out when I see I'm still fully clothed. The sudden motion jarred my already splitting headache, causing me to lay back down.
Finally I gain the strength to climb out of bed. I push open the door and walk down the hallway. After checking the kitchen, living room, and bathroom I conclude Miles is gone. Then a bright green sticky note catches my eye. In Miles' neat, scrawling handwriting it reads "Got called into work, be back after lunch. Make yourself at home!".
I open the fridge and pull out a can of coke, before heading over to the couch. I sit down, open the coke and channel surf until I land on "Reba". Harry always used to make fun of me for watching that show, saying it was unrealistic and not funny....and just like that he's baCK INTO MY HEAD!
"You have to stop thinking about him!" I command myself. "Like that's ever going to happen." My subconcious adds silently.
I turn up the TV volume to drown out my own thoughts before laying down and closing my eyes, resting my head on the arm of the couch.
I'm awoken by a door closing and clicking footsteps. I jerk upright, sending a shot of pain through my skull to see Miles shuffling quietly into the kitchen.
"Hello." I offer sleepily, scrubbing at my eyes.
"Stephanie! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you!" He apologizes in the true Miles fashion.
"It's okay, I needed to wake up. What time is it?" I ask.
"Around five." Miles answers, taking a glass from the cabinet and filling it with water from the sink, another thing Harry and I always disagreed on. He said you had to take water from the refridgerator because it was better filtered while I always frank from the sink....STOP IT STEPH!
"Oh gosh, I didn't realize I'd slept that long." I sigh.
"Hey, you WERE pretty trashed last night." Miles laughs, coming over and sitting next to me on the couch, dressed in black dress slacks and a button up pastel pink shirt with a black tie.
"You weren't, you didn't drink a single thing." I tease.
"Someone had to take care of you." Miles teases back.
I sigh and scrub at my eyes.
"You okay?" Miles asks.
"I'm fine. What do you want to do for the rest of the night?" I ask through a yawn.
"I don't care, whatever you feel like doing. We could go out to eat or I could just order something." Miles suggests.
"I can't just stay and lay around here all day. I should go out." I nod. "Yeah, let's go out and get something to eat and just walk around a little."
"Okay." Miles says. "What do you want to eat?"
"I don't care. You can pick something out while I change." I tell him before getting off the couch and going back to my bedroom.
I pull on a pair of light wash denim shorts and a faded black t-shirt that says "Miss Rebel" in white letters. Then I cram my feet into my white converse and pile my hair up into a messy bun, tying on a white bandana as I walk back out to the living room, where Miles has taken off his tie.
"There's a really cool food truck that has these awesome burritos just down the street from Central Park...does that sound good?" Miles asks as I stick my phone into my back pocket.
"That's fine." I answer.
"Are you sure?" Miles asks.
"Yeah, I mean I'm in New York, I need to eat at a food truck, right?" I try and laugh.
"Yeah." Miles smiles.
"Ok, are you ready to go?" I ask.
"Yep, let's go." Miles says and takes off to the door. I follow right behind him, hoping to be distracted by all the different smells, people, and sights that make up New York.
