Stephanie's P.O.V.

"What?" I ask.

Miles cheeks turn red and he looks like he wishes he could pull the words back into where they came from.

"Nothing. Forget I said anything, this was supposed to be about you." Miles mumbles.

"Yeah, well you just made it about you." I reply, crossing my arms and raising in eyebrow, waiting for his response.

"No, Stephanie, I didn't. I'd really appreciate it if you could let it drop." Miles snaps.

I'm surprised at his harsh tone, it's so unlike him. "Fine. Whatever."

Miles sighs and leans forwards, running his hands over his face. "I'm sorry for snapping at you."

"It's fine." I lie. I wasn't really prepared for one more person to snap at me today but it looks like I got it anyways. "I need to get going, I have to get some groceries for this week."

Miles sighs but stands up, picking up my bag. I glance outside and see the sky has gone from the pretty blue it was earlier to a faint grey and when I look closer I see that it's raining, just a drizzle but enough to soak me if I have to wait for a cab.

"Is there a bus stop around here?" I ask him.

"No, the buses and cabs don't run down here. I'll call you a cab." Miles says and pulls his phone out. I don't really pay attention to what he says until he slides the phone back into his pocket. "They said it'll be here in five minutes."

"Are you going to ride with me or....?" I ask, still hurt that he snapped at me. I was already in a hole and all that did was dig me deeper.

"No, actually. I think I'll walk. Back into town at least." Miles says.

"But it's raining! You'll freeze!" I protest.

"I need some time to think." Miles says. "I'm truly sorry for snapping at you."

And then I'm standing alone, watching a slightly broken looking Miles walk down the street with rain pouring onto him.
