Stephanie's P.O.V.
We drive through a part of New York I've never been in before. There's little traffic, cobblestone streets, and brick buildings with green ivy climbing up the sides. The streets here aren't crowded like the ones near my work and apartment, and it's quiet, none of the hustle and bustle I've come to know New York as. Granted, we've been in the car long enough for the airport noise to not reach us. The cab lets us out on the corner, in front of a crumbling brick building with white trellises propped up against it, purple flowers blooming on them. There's a small section of concrete with a black metal fence around it, containing antique looking tables and chairs.
"What kind of food do they have here?" I ask as Miles hoists my bag over his shoulder.
"We're not actually eating HERE, here. There's an all american style buffet place down a block. I figured we could walk there and you could get a feel for this part of town, before coming back here to get coffee of tea." Miles answers.
"That sounds fun. What's the name of this area?" I ask as we walk along the sidewalk.
"It's called the Cobblestone Street district, for reason you can probably guess." Miles says. "I've been comming here since as long as I can remember. There's lots of little boutique type shops here, as well as some ice cream and coffee places."
"It's really pretty here." I aknowledge, looking around at all the building. I spot a cute little boutique with a lime green awning on the other side of the road and make a mental note to come back sometime to check it out. "It's so nice and quiet, and there's so little traffic..."
"That's because if you're not from here, you'd never find it. This little district is in the middle of New York New York. It's only about a mile away from central park." Miles says.
"Really? Are you serious?" I ask, looking up at the sky and expecting to see sky scrapers in the distance, but I find none. "Why can't I see any of the buildings?"
"This little town fits inside this dip, from the sky it looks like a little bowl. The hill to get out of herre that would lead you in the general direction of central park is bigger than the other side, so from central park, you can't tell this town is here." Miles explains.
"It's like a whole other world." I muse.
