Chapter 53

Ally's P.O.V.

        I sit there in silence, not knowing what to do. The events of Sophie's death will not stop replaying in my mind. I loved her, and she probably thought I just hated her. Now she'll never know. And the exact same thing is happening with Britt and Katherine.

       She always loved me, even when she would get mad. I could always see the hint of happiness in her eyes. She was just a little girl, she didn't deserve to die. It should have been me. It should have been me. It should have been me. I was nothing but hateful to her, even though I did love her.

        "Want some comapany?" I hear Niall's voice say from above me.

        I look up from where my head is buried in my knees which are tucked to my chest. He is leaning on the wall, looking down at me. I nod and then he slides down the wall until he is sitting next to me.

        "Stephanie told me what happened." He says quietly.

        Thank you Steph!

        "I'm really sorry." He says, putting an arm around my shoulder. Normally I would lean into him but tonight I'm just not in the mood.

        I sniffle in response.

        "How come you never told me?" He asks.

        His phone pings and he glances down. It's a text from Stephanie saying "Don't make this about you." I swear she has hearing like a bat.

        "It hurts to talk about it." I mutter, pulling my knees tighter to my chest.

        He nods, neither of us really knowing what to say. It's never been awkward between me and Niall. Ever. This is why I don't ever tell anyone because they either start gushing how sorry they are or they just stop talking to me all together and it gets really awkward.

        "I'm sorry." Niall sighs, rubbing his hands through his hair.

        "Everyone is." I mutter, pushing myself to my feet. "I just want to go home. Bring the car around please. I'm going to go talk to Steph."

        He nods curtly and heads out to the parking lot.
