Harry's P.O.V.
Gemma and I get a cab to Steph's apartment building. Then I realize that it'll take some convincing to get the blonde stiff at the desk up front to give up Steph's apartment number.
"Wait here." I tell Gemma.
She shrugs but sits down on a bench outside the glass doors. I walk into the lobby and feel like a speck of dirt against the white interior. I walk up to the lady at the desk who's all clean cut and straight lines.
"How may I help you?" She asks, looking up from her magazine.
"I'm here to see my girlfriend but she forgot to tell me her apartment number, and now she won't answer her phone," I pause and hold up my call log displaying all my unanswered calls to Steph. "Can you tell me her room?"
"What is her name?" She asks, typing something into her computer with her long fake nails.
"Stephan..." I am interupted.
"Ahah, here it is." The lady gives me her apartment number.
I wink and walk towards the elevator.
"Scuse me, Mr Bad Ass!" I hear her call after me.
I whip around to see her shuffling towards me, pencil skirt restricting her movement.
"What did you call me?" I ask, astonished.
"Listen here. I know you're not her boyfriend," This time I interupt her.
"Yeah? How do you figure?" I am not going to let this stick out do me.
"Well A) you came here with that girl on the bench out there and B) I've seen two different guys go up to her apartment or meet her outside, so don't try that with me." She snaps.
I open my mouth to speak but she slams one finger against my lips.
"I'll give you fifteen minutes. If she doesn't come down and tell me who you are, I'm calling the cops." She removes her hand and walks back to her desk.
I shake myself out of the shock from that bold woman and then step into the waiting elevator. I ride up to Steph's apartment and take a deep breath before knocking. Then I remember that I don't knock and try to turn the handle, but it won't budge. I pound on the door for a good ten minutes before sighing and heading back down stairs because I don't want tight ass to call the cops on me.
"Boyfriend you say." She smarts as I walk past the deskon my way out.
"How did it go?" Gemma asks as soon as I get outside.
"How do you think it went? I've been gone for twenty minutes." I huff, walking out to the edge of the sidewalk and hailing us a cab.
I can feel Gemma rolling her eyes behind me. A cab flies up to the corner and I sink into it, trying to decide where to go next. Gemma solves that problem when she sits down and says "Take us to the Marriott."
Stephanie's P.O.V.
Miles and I sit and watch TV for a good few hours before Miles phone rings. He answers and talks for a few minutes before turning and looking at me.
"I'm really sorry but I've got to go run down to the office and take care of some stuff. I'm past a due date on this one manuscript that I left there and there's a construction crew looking at something that I need to help them find." Miles says.
"It's fine." I say, even though I don't know how I'll handle being alone.
"Are you sure? You could come with me if you want?" Miles suggests.
"No, I'm sure. I'll be fine." I promise him.
"Okay. I'll get back as soon as possible." Miles says. "I've got to change..."
He runs back into his bedroom and emerges a few minutes later in black dress pants and a blue button up. He grabs his bag off the love seat and throws it over his shoulder as he walks to the door.
"Have fun at work!" I call and wave.
"Sureeee." Miles rolls his eyes and then steps out. The door closes and I'm left to my Full House reruns.
It could be a few minutes or an hour after Miles leaves but I can't take sitting still any longer. I jump up off the couch and start pacing, running a hand through my hair anxiously. I'm starting to feel a little warm so I change into a pair of black high waisted ripped shorts and a pink tank crop top reading "BARBIE" in cursive. I step back into my converse and run a brush through my hair.
Miles and I are going out to party.
