AUSTIN'S POV

I spot Becky heading towards the cafeteria, but before I could approach her I see Justin walking in her direction. Becky is looking down at her phone; Justin stands directly in her path and starts walking. He 'accidentally' bumps into her and she almost drops her phone.

I watch as both of them exchange words. Apparently Justin said something that's so fucking hilarious because Becky laughs.

He grabs her phone and types something in it. Before I know it Justin's lips meet Becky's cheek.

I feel the blood in my veins boil and I have the urge to rip that disgusting smirk off of Justin's face as he walks away.

Becky doesn't smile or grin like I suspect her to; instead she looks guilty like her dad found her staying up late again. She looks down the hall and her eyes look to me.

My anger still gets the best of me and I turn away coldly and look around for my crew.

I stare absentmindedly at the stupid excuse for a sub sandwich on my plate. I hear the chatter of multiple conversations that surround my table.

I hear the door slam loudly and the conversations cease. Becky walks in and grabs her food, she ignores the multiple stares. She looks down at her feet and sits at an empty table near ours.

'What happened?' Alex mouthes to me. I sigh outwardly and stand up.

I walk towards the table where only Becky is seated. She looks up and her eyes look sad.

No, she's not crying; but her eyes are still unhappy. Her eyes that are usually gleaming: are dull, and emotionless. I can see it even when she smiles or when she laughs.

I don't say a word to her but I grab her tray and her phone and take it towards my table. I don't hear the familiar screech of the chair when someone gets up so I look behind me.

"You coming or what?" I ask. She gives me a slight smile and follows me.

I slide Rob's tray over a seat and replace it with Becky's. Rob seems to understand and moves down to the next chair. I pull out the seat for Becky and she sits down, seeing that she's so tiny I can push the chair in without her helping me. She thanks me and I sit down next to her. The audience we previously had go back to their incessant bickering.

I can sense the apprehension and awkwardness radiating from Becky as she looks around the table.

"Becky this the crew. Crew this is Becky. Be. Nice." I emphasis the last two words strictly.

"Hey, I'm Alex." Alex speaks up.

"Hi, you're with Sarah, right?" She asks. He nods blushing. Becky smiles at his reaction.

"I'm Zach." Zach states lamely.

"Nice to meet you." She says politely and Zach offers her a smile which she gladly returns.

"You know me already so..." Rob smacks his food. I make a disgusted face at his actions, but Becky only laughs.

"So Austin, are we still going to do that thing after school today?" Zach asks. He looks at Becky quickly while saying 'that thing'.

"Yeah, of course." I reply in a slightly lighter tone than usual.

"What are you guys doing?" Becky asks.

"It's just some guy stuff; nothing you'd be interested in." I wave off.

"Try me." Becky challenges.

"We're going to the track today." I say proudly

The track is where most of the teens would go drag racing. The track was about half a mile from the train tracks that separates the city. Hence the name 'the track'; the sounds from the passing trains would drown out the noises of the cars. That's why we, the teens, never got caught. The place was meant to be kept under wraps from the lower classmen at all costs, that's why we don't blurt out the activities that occur; we simply say 'we're headed to the track'.

Actually, one time when underclassmen tried to figure out where the track was; they ended up staying at the track & field house till they got caught trespassing on school grounds.

"Why?" Becky says rather loudly. Her face in contorted in a scowl.

"Why not?" I ask.

"Do you know how many kids die there?" She spits.

It was true, the track claimed more lives then drunk driving. The reason being, since the track is so close to the train track there's a point in the race where you have to cross it. Depending on whether or not a train is late can cost you, your life if you never raced before.

"It's not like I'm going to behind the wheel, B." I say. Becky relaxes, but I continue, "I'm going to sit next to Alex who's going to be behind the wheel." I pat Alex on the back. Becky looks at me in disbelief.

"You cannot be serious." She says quietly.

"Nah, my name's not serious, it's Austin." I smirk.

"Well, I am serious about this Austin. What if you get hurt?" She says gravely.

"I'm not going to get hurt, I promise." I reassure her.

(A/N: I had ACT testing today and for the next week I have testing for school and I'm so exhausted. ugh.

okay now you know what Rob and Austin were talking about when they said 'the shipment' it obviously had to do with car parts and shit so...

In my rough drafts of this I had Austin as a drug dealer, but that was kind of overdone so I had him be a drag racer instead.

"I opened two gifts today. They were my eyes." I love you guys, bye.
