BECKY'S POV

I giggle loudly as Austin imitates the way Mr. Walter, our principal walks.

"Mr. Mahone you should not be wearing hats in school." He says in a deep voice.

"But sir, it's just part of my sweater." He says in his normal voice.

"I don't care young man, nothing should not be covering your head during school hours!" He says in Mr. Walter's voice.

I control my laughter as I see Mr. Walter coming up behind Austin.

"And what do you think you are doing young man." His deep voice booms. I swear Austin's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.

"Nothing sir. Just hanging out with my girl." He says. I look at him questionably. "Uh friend. I meant girlfriend." My eyes widen. "Not that girlfriend, but like a pal. Like a gal pal." He says quickly. I try my hardest to resist from laughing.

"Well, alright, but let this be a warning, Mahone. You mess with the bull you get the horns." Mr. Walter strides away and I burst out laughing.

"That was not funny, B." He uses my old nickname.

"You can't call me B. Only my friends call me that." I put on the most serious face I could muster.

"But we- I thought we were friends Becky." He chokes.

"Well, according to you I'm a gal pal." I giggle. A large smile takes over Austin's face.

"Hey! I got nervous alright! I thought he was going to write me up." He chuckles as he adjusts his beanie.

I don't know what it was about Austin that reminds me of something, but I can never understand what it is. It's like an old song that brings you back in time somewhere, but you're mind can't remember where that place is.

"Austin?" I ask. I didn't notice until now that we were walking in the direction of our next class.

"What's up?" He asks.

"What's your middle name?" I ask him.

"Carter." He replies.

Austin Carter Mahone.

That's a nice name.

"Thanks." He blushes.

Damn, did I say that out loud?

"Yep." He says, and I think I'm about to go crazy. I slap my hand over my mouth before I could further embarrass myself. When I'm around Austin its like I'm comfortable around him. Like I could tell him anything and I could trust him not to say anything to anyone.

"Hey Austin, bro." I see a brunette trying to get Austin's attention.

"What do you want Rob?" Austin sneers. I look at Austin shocked.

Why is he acting so cold?

"Hi." He says to me.

"Hello." I reply.

"I'm Rob." He says simply.

"I'm Becky." I reply.

"I know, Austin has been-" the rest of him sentence is muffled by Austin's hand, since it's clamped tightly over Rob's mouth.

"You either spill what you need me for or leave." Austin barks. Seeing this side of Austin both scares and excites me at the same time. Not that I'd actually admit it to his face, but being angry looks hot on him.

"Alex wanted to know if you still wanted those replacements for the mics." Rob says

Mics?

"Tell him I'll let him know after school. And hey, did the next shipment come in yet?" Austin asks secretively.

"Yeah. Zach said they came in at 11. Do want to look them over when we get back or..." Rob's sentence is stopped and I find myself being stared by 2 pairs of eyes.

"Sorry. I should get going. Um, bye Austin. It was nice meeting you Rob." I wave nicely at both of them and I scurry down the hallway.

With forces that are beyond my reasoning I feel my heart beat rapidly and my palms become clammy. The warning bell rings and I'm in my desk. The students around me seem to not exist as I feel my anxiety peak. I try my hardest not to freak out. The last thing I want is people to make fun of me. Its hard enough with the dirty glances and nasty rumors that have been spread since Jimmy and I broke up.

Austin walks through the door at the last second before the bell rings. My eyes are glued to the ground as I feel myself start to calm down.

"Hey Becky?" A voice behind me asks.

"Yeah?" I ask.

"You alright?" I look behind me and I'm greeted with brown eyes.

"I'm fine, Justin. Just tired." Lie.

"Okay." He smiles. And I do my best to smile back.

AUSTIN'S POV

You're lying, Beck. I know you. What's wrong? And why are you talking to him of all people? Why can't you sit next to me and only talk to me?

Okay, that sounded slightly possessive, but still. I just want you here.

Stop it, Austin. Don't get too close, remember?

I'm pulled out of my thoughts by Justin's loud laugh.

"He really said that." Justin says and Becky nods.

"Most horrible teacher alive, I swear on my cat's grave." She said.

"Aw. No, don't talk about Whiskers like that. It still hurts." He fakes a pain where his heart is and I want to bash his face in with a hammer at the sight of this shit. I can't stop the thoughts that run through my mind.

Fuck you, Justin.

I swear to God if you come between Becky and I... I will make you wish you never walked the earth.
