The next morning I practically peeled my quilt off of myself, I didn't even remember falling asleep. We'd be arriving in the fire nation today and I wanted to avoid Lin as much as possible. I want her to have her feelings clear before talking to her again. When I stepped out of my room it was clear that several parties had heard the fight last night, my father being one of them. I noticed his finger wag and followed it.

"Why did you have a screaming match with Lin Beifong last night?" He questioned as he opened the door to the library. "Because she's confusing." I reply, crossing my legs in one of the arm chairs. "How so?" He asked, pouring a cup of tea and handing it to me. "Are you trying to be uncle Iroh?" I ask, a small smile creeping onto my face. "I- uh, I just want to talk to my child." He slightly smiled. "Dad, have you ever been in love with someone but felt like they were using you to make themselves feel better?" I ask, taking a sip of the bitter tea. My father was never good at making tea.

As soon as we hit the dock, I practically ran off the boat. I absolutely hated the feeling of being on water, I could never really get used to it. "Y/n calm down, you're going to puke." My father laughed, helping me stand from my previous position. The citizens of the mainland crowded around us, asking questions about Republic City and other things that I tuned out. We had finally reached the palace steps and I could feel my bed calling my name. I swiftly turned the corner before a hand grabbed my shoulder, turning me to face the mystery person. "Seriously?" I asked, looking at Lin. We weren't at eye level, she was taller than me by a few inches. "Where's your room?" She asked, her voice was harsh and almost commanding. "What-" "Where's your room Y/n?" She asked again. I knit my eyebrows together while facing her. "Take me to your room or I am going to kiss you in front of every single one of these guards. The news will spread like wildfire." Lin stated, I complied.

My room was just down the hall because I did not want a room upstairs. I pushed my door open, revealing a large canopy bed in the middle of the room with book shelves lacing the rest of the walls. "What do you want Lin?" I ask, lighting an oil lamp. "I want to talk about our fight. You have everything so wrong. I knew Tenzin and I's breakup would come eventually. Y/n I'm in love with you. How can I make that any clearer?" She asks. I try to give her a hug before her lips smash into mine, more passionately than the last time, my fingers began to grasp at her hair as she pushed me farther into my room. I had to pull away, stopping it from going any farther. "Lin. I love you too, but this can't happen."
