vi. Truth or dare, with a twist.

Memories of last night replayed in my head, like a catchy song. Lin smiling at me, and reminding me that it was okay to not like boys. How her eyes squinted in the light, the way she always accentuated her words to sound more like her mother. All of the things she could effortlessly do in a matter of seconds that would make my heart tingle, and butterflies swarm throughout my stomach. There was always an unspoken rule though; girls can't love girls. 

"Y/N." Bumi whispered, knocking me out of my daze. "Sorry." I sighed, locking myself onto the conversation. "We were going to play truth or dare, and we wanted to see if you'd like to join." Izumi smiled, I only nodded as she went over the rules. "Truth or dare is a simple game that we are putting a spin on, if you get to a question or a dare that you do not want to answer, you have to eat Republic City's hottest fire flakes. Got it?" She stated, everyone nodded and we began. 

The first few turns were quiet, Izumi dared Bumi to lick the wall and he did just that. After his wall love, he dared Lin to bite her mother; which didn't end well for either of them. 
"Alright, Kya who do you have your eye on?" Lin asked, a large smile plastered on her face. "Nobody in particular." Kya added, looking at me. "Y/N, how about you?" I only shook my head. 

"Y/N is actually madly in love with me." Bumi joked, flinging his arm onto my shoulder. I couldn't help but laugh at the idiotic boy's attempts. "Truth or dare, Tenzin." I asked, I needed to know where his life was going and where Lin would fit in. "I've actually got to go." Tenzin frowned, "airbender business." He stated abruptly before making his way out of the room. 

"I should head out as well." Lin smiled, but it wasn't her normal happy go lucky smile; this one was much more grim like she was expecting something to come up. "What's up with those two?" Kya asked, nobody really had an answer. I hoped for the best either way.

The very same night I would receive my answer, I'd been woken up by a slight tap on the shoulder. Lin stood at the foot of my mattress, tears welled up in her eyes. I couldn't get a word in before she tangled me up into a bear hug. "Lin?" I tried to ask, only to be greeted by the sound of soft crying. "I should've known." She sighed into my shoulder.

"Known what?" I asked.

Hey loves, so a lot of things happened that prevented me from updating. First my mom got out of jail and I went traveling for a few weeks. Second, school started and I was very busy and still am because I am actually an honor roll student. Third, my aunt actually passed away on
October 8th 2021 due to a sudden heart attack, and I have been really struggling with my mental health. I am so sorry for leaving you all on that tease chapter, it truly wasn't my intention.
