Chapter 41

Soon enough some people began to drift upstairs to bed at different times. I was so tired but because I was sleeping downstairs I had to wait for everyone else to go up to bed.

It was around 3am and I sat on the blown up air bed with Reece by my side, us and the other 7 boys the only ones left up. We were sat talking about our holiday to Portugal when my phone rang. I looked down to see that it was the hospital where my mum was. They said they wouldn't ring unless it's something serious.

"Shit it's the hospital" I said. "Shit, shit, shit." I got up and walked out of the room, into the hallway.

"Hello" I said when I answered the phone, already panicking about what this was about.

"Hello, is this Alice Edwards (A/N made up last name)?" A male voice asked down the phone. He sounded nervous and concerned.

"Yeah, what's happened?" I replied, leaning against the wall.

"This is very hard to say and I'm sorry to tell you over the phone but unfortunately your mother passed away a little over 10 minutes ago. We did everything we could but she wasn't coping well. I'm very sorry." I closed my eyes. I knew this was coming but it still hit me hard hearing those words.

"Oh, okay, thank you for telling me. I urm, I have to go, I'm sorry" I said, tears falling from my cheeks. I didn't know what else to say.

"I have to ask that you come to the hospital in the next few days to make some arrangements but take your time. I'm very sorry for your loss" the doctor said.

I thanked him and hung up, dropping my phone on the floor. I covered my face with my hands and slid down the wall, curling up into a ball and crying into my knees. I was shocked, I didn't think it would happen suddenly. I'd only just got back in touch with her and she was gone again.

So many thoughts ran through my head, memories of the past month and vague memories of when I was younger. They were all just memories now. I wasn't going to see her again. I let out a sob and heard Reece calling my name.

"Babe you okay?" I heard and looked up to see him poking his head around the door. "What's happened?" He asked, coming around the door. I stood up and walked over to him and he pulled me into a hug. I couldn't get the words out so I just shook my head.

"It's okay, come back in here and sit down" he said taking my hand and leading me into the living room.

"What were they ringing for?" The boys asked as I walked in and sat down in a small space on the sofa next to Casey.

"She's gone, my mum's died" I said quietly, hugging my knees. Casey put his arms around me and I buried my face in his shirt, getting tears all over it. Reece sat on the arm of the couch next to me.

"Oh god Alice, I'm so sorry" some of the boys said. I didn't say anything, I didn't know what to say. All I could think about was my mum and I began to cry harder. Reece took hold of my hand and I looked up, wiping tears off my cheeks.

"Is it alright if we just go to bed? I don't really feel like staying up and talking now" I asked.

"Yeah of course" Reece said and the other boys nodded. Each of them came up to me and gave me a hug before walking off to bed.

"I'm so sorry, you'll be okay" Reece said to me, pulling me into a hug. "Try and get some sleep and I'll see you in the morning. I love you."

"I love you too, goodnight" I replied as he walked towards the door since he was sleeping upstairs and I was sleeping downstairs.

"Make sure she doesn't do anything" Reece said to James and Charlie, who were also staying downstairs. They nodded as Reece walked out and shut the door behind him. We all got into the airbeds, a single and double bed all squashed on the floor. I was on the end with James in the middle and Charlie on the other side. I moved over to the edge of the airbed and tried to get to sleep, thoughts of my mum still racing around my head.

A/N

So yeah big plot thing in this chapter and I hope it was okay. I've been meaning to update all week but have been so busy and so tired that I just haven't got round to it. I'm going to try and update tomorrow or hopefully Sunday but no promises bc I'm busy at the minute with school and exams and everything. It's Easter holidays though so that means more regular updates hopefully, yay.
