"Give me the phone." He demands and I reach for my back pocket while I'm frowning my eyebrows at him.
"What are you going to do?" I ask while he's unlocking the phone the same way I did. I can't help but chuckle as he's holding the phone in the moonlight to see the pattern.
"It's a V" I say as I look out of the window, avoiding his dead stare.
"I'm gonna call Dylan or whoever picks up." He says. I look at him and then back to the phone.
"Don't bother. I tried calling 911 but the phone got shut-" I say but before I could finish my sentence, he's already calling someone.
He gives me a wink and a smirk while waiting for that person to answer while I look away again.
James holds the phone next to his ear while it keeps ringing so I won't hear a thing. I roll my eyes and I snap the phone out of his hands so that I'm the one who can listen.
"Candace!" He whispers as he tries to grab the phone back, but I keep it far away from him.
I chuckle while he's leaning over me, trying to grab the phone but I keep dodging him.
"Give it back you child." He whispers with a little smirk.
"No because you won't let me listen." I say with a chuckle while I'm moving my hand away from him.
"I was waiting for your phone call James." A man says through the phone after a moment. It's not Dylan that's for sure. We both didn't realize someone already picked up and we immediately stop with whatever we were doing.
I throw the phone at James, and he catches it while shaking his head slowly. Basically, saying that I'm a pussy for giving him the phone right after someone answered.
"Who is this." James asks while sitting straight in his seat as he'a holding the phone in between us on speaker.
"Doesn't matter. Someone is waiting for you at 11 north street." He says immediately and James looks outside, looking at nothing basically.
"And take that pretty woman who's sitting next to you with you." The man says and James immediately looks at me.
I slump in my seat slowly while looking around me and biting my lip. James rolls his eyes with a smirk, and he turns his focus to the phone again.
Before he could speak again, that person on the line hangs up. I look at James with worry in my eyes and he strokes the back of my head.
"I love you, but I don't think you should come." He says with an apologizing smile. He's right, I know he's right. And to be honest, I don't even think I wanna go. I know I said I do, but now that it's so close, I'm a chicken. I'm backing out.
Confronting my ex-husband isn't on my fucking to do list. I don't even think I could face him after two years... using me to get to James.
"So.... I'll just stay in the car then?" I say with my shoulders up, giving him a little smile. He knows I'm scared and that it was just tough talking. I don't even know what to expect. Probably trying to kill each other I don't know.
"Drive away. Go home and wait for me." He says and he leans forwards to give me a kiss on my lips, but I pull back before he could even touch me.
"Home? I was fine with staying in the car but I'm not leaving you behind." I say with a serious tone while lifting my eyebrow up.
"Sweetheart, I'll get out of there. Just make sure you get safe home and I'll meet you there." He says while stroking my cheek.
"What if something happens. What if you get shot."? I say but he shakes his head slowly.
