Grace's POV
"Hey, Dad, can I talk to you about something?" I knocked on the door into his office and poked my head inside.
"Of course, honey. What's on your mind?" He asked me, setting down his novel face down on the desk. I stepped inside and sat down on a comfy, leather chair in the corner of the room.
"So I have this friend who is looking for a job to live on his own and so far he hasn't been able to find any jobs because of the economy lately, but I told him about you looking for more caddies on the golf course and he said he would be up for it, if it was okay with you," I asked him, trying not to let it slip that it was Ian who needed the job. I was doing my best to help him out with finding a job so he could escape his crazy aunt who wanted to drag him back to Oregon.
"Well, I have been looking for some more workers, but I would need to do a job interview first. What's his name?" He questioned. I took a deep breath, unsure of what his reaction would be to the answer of that question.
"See, here's the thing, it's Ian who needs the job," I said. "But Dad, I swear, he's a really hard worker and will do whatever you need him to do. I know that you and Mom don't like him but please, he needs this job, or else he'll have to move back with his aunt," I nearly begged.
Dad let out a sigh before answering.
"Honey, you know your mother wouldn't agree to this," he said, peering at me over the rims of his glasses.
"Yes, I know that, but this is really important. He turns 18 soon and wants to live on his own but he can't find a job," I explained. I had no idea how I was going to get this to work out but I had to at least try something to get him a job.
"I'll have to set up an interview with him, tell him Monday at 5 o'clock sharp," Dad said. I squealed and ran behind the desk to hug him.
"Oh thank you, thank you!" I burst out.
"But, don't forget, we need to talk to your mother about this. And I suggest you get a compelling argument because she isn't going to be happy," Dad told me.
"Of course," I nodded my head in agreement and headed out of the office and upstairs to my room to call Ian.
"Ian! My dad said he would do a job interview with you to work on the course!" I exclaimed into the speaker.
"Oh my god, are you serious, Grace?! That's amazing! Thank you so much!" I could hear Ian smiling into the phone. "Why don't we go out tonight and celebrate?"
"That sounds great, I'll meet you down the street at 6," I bit my lip and smiled. After we said our goodbyes, I collapsed onto my bed and thought about these past few weeks.
After our first kiss at the dance, Ian and I have started dating publically, but we still had to be really careful so no one we know saw us. With my Dad being the town pastor, everyone knew our family. If anyone were to tell either of my parents about Ian and I, we would be completely screwed.
Ian's aunt is still trying to get Ian to come back with her to Washington, but he's been looking for a job to support him since his birthday is in a month. But, with the nearly no jobs to be found, Ian hasn't been able to find one that would support him.
That's where I come in.
I've been doing all that I can do help Ian, especially since his dad is now in custody. Being with Ian and helping him at his house has been all I can really do besides finding him a job.
I rolled over and looked at the clock and realized that I had been laying there, reliving memories, for almost an hour, meaning I only had an hour to get ready. I sat up and stood up from my bed, heading to the bathroom. I put on light, natural makeup and straightened my hair. After, I headed into my room and picked out an outfit that was dressy enough for a date but casual enough so that my parents wouldn't suspect anything.
