A Long Road Trip - Alice

I woke to an unusual sight, Faye and Dean sitting together. I yawned as I almost hit Ace in he face, sitting next to me.
"Woman!"he exclaimed in shock as he almost fell off his seat.
I responded with a laugh as I stood up to completely stretch. Looking over everyones heads I watched Dean change Faye's bloody bandages in pain as she searched through the street directory with her other hand. I slipped past Ace, getting up to check who was next driving. At the moment Scarlette was driving while Ender talked to her from the front seat. Everyone was getting pretty good at driving while talking. But then it didn't take to much skill to drive for you didn't have to stay to a lane in particular, and side we still didn't know in which direction is to Canberra you could just drive any where in any direction. As I walked up from me back of the bus I noticed Echo and Dawn sleeping on each other, Blake and Katrissa doing the same. But when I passed Dean and Faye on the disabled side seats I couldn't help but quickly look away from her hand, almost black stumps where her fingers once were. I felt sorry for her, she looked like she was in so much pain but held it back. When I reached the front I looked at the table we had created, I was suppose to drive at 11:30am. I glanced down at my 'white' watch reading 9:45am.
"Oh hey, Alice!"Ender waved noticing me, like usual eating.
I waved back with an awkward smile, my stomach grumbling, finally realizing how hungry I was. The bus rocked and swerved as I held onto the bars tying to not fall over. When I reached he cans and cans of food with other random packaged food, I grabbed two cans of fruit and a packet of crushed shapes. As I headed back to my seat I threw a can of fruit at Ace.
"Holy shi- WOMAN!!"Ace shouted as he panicked just catching the can.
I burst into laughter as everyone else woke up.
"Shut the f*ck up!"Blake murmured his eyes still shut and head rested on Katrissa's shoulder.
"My gosh can't you guys not swear for a day!"Faye shouted back at us.
"Exactly!"Dean agreed as he gestured weirdly at Faye.
"Shut uuuppp!!"everyone who was sleepy groaned now.
Ace moved down the seat as I sat next to her opening the can at the same time as her, digging into the syrupy sweat fruit.
A few hours passed of talking, eating and I guess more Talking. There wasn't much we could do. I dragged myself off my seat, I was now sitting next to Faye we were just talking about really weird experiences and TV shows. It was my driving shift now and Faye had to go back to trying to work out how to use the street directory, find a way to Canberra and then to the CSIOR. As soon as I reached the drivers seat to swap with Dean, Faye jumped up shouting.
"I worked it out! I got it!"she exclaimed excitedly as everyone rushed over including me.
"Past me a pen or somethin."she ordered as Echo headed back to find a pen.
"Catch, Hwah!"Echo flung the blue pen over at Faye as she caught it perfectly in-between her fingers.
Faye started to draw out the route that we are to take while explaining how the streets work and ludy-ludy-la. But I still had to listen carefully as she explained for I was driving next.
"So! We have someone sit in the 'back-seat-drivers-seat' and tell the driver where to go and stuff?"Ender suggested, as she walked over resting her elbows on Ace and my shoulders.
"Yep, so now we'll also have to timetable in a street directory person."Faye responded.
"I'll put that together."Echo said right before I could volunteer.
I think the only reason any of us wanted to do it was because we were all bored. I hopped on to the drivers seat as Faye sat behind me in the front seat almost next to the driver. Now it started to get into the harder stuff. I had to double concentrate on where we were heading and a lot of the times Faye made last minute changes of decisions. It was pretty hectic with everyone shouting and swearing down the back. But eventually my shit was finally over.
"How was it, Alice in Wonderland?" Katrissa smiled as she leaned on my shoulder while sipping on a little carton of lemon tea.
"Shut up Katrissa."I said with a smile as I rolled my eyes at the 'nick name' she called me.
I quickly slipped out of the seat as Katrissa slipped in. As soon as I stepped out Dawn was already ordering Katrissa around. I almost fell right over Katrissa took a sharp turn.

You could say that since we were all stuck in a zombie apocalypse we would always be in action and awake. But I'll tell you this, it was nothing like that, it was just continues driving in right or wrong directions, stopping at petrol stations frequently and stopping for new food supplies whenever we could. The boring days passed, instead of only taking a few hours to actually get to canberra we took days. By now it was about four days since it all started and we had already lost two people who we will always remember in our hearts.
"My Ass!!!" shouted Ace as he stood up, we had all been sitting down a lot so I guess I can understand it... But that doesn't mean I liked his use of language.
"What did he go too hard last night?"Echo laughed back with a raised eyebrow.
Ace responded with a wink as they burst into laughter.
"Guys  we need more food supplies. Next supermarket we drive past or whatever we need to get shit."Echo ordered as she stood up checking the supplies.
"According to the map there's an Ikea coming up with a Coles, Woolworths and shopping market like half connected to it." Faye said as we all nodded.
Not Long after we spotted a huge blue sign with all these different shops names on it.
"Go park."Dean ordered as he ran over pointing to the inside parking lot.
"Yes sir!"Ace responded as he took a sharp turn down the steep drive way.
As soon as we reached level the bus Immediately hit a Walker. The whole place was swarming with them! There was no way we could stop otherwise we'd get over run by the infected.
"What the hell do you want me to do?"Ace shouted as he circled the parking lot running over as many walkers as she could at once.
"There! You see how where the two sliding doors are? It's clear there, open the doors and we'll jump out."Scarlette ordered as she pointed at the area leading to the inside.
Unusually it seemed almost empty in that area. But Scarlette's idea was still completely ridiculous.
"Are you an idiot!"Ender shouted at Scarlette and at Ace for agreeing.
"Ok, Dawn, Ace, Dean and Echo. Come with me."Scarlette ordered.
"Wait how the hell am I suppose to go with you?"Ace shouted back as she took another sharp turn.
"Ace I want you to come with me-"Scarlette was Immediately interrupted by a loud cough.
"Echo this is not the time!"everyone shouted back at her.
"What I didn't say anything!" she said in her defense.
"Anyway! Alice! Quickly swap with Ace, you're probably our best driver here after Faye."Scarlette ordered.
It was unusual to get complimented by her, usually she just offended people with her sick sense of humor. I quickly swapped with Ace, as soon as I sat down I had to swerve to he right just avoiding smashing into a wall.
"Wow! Dem skills gurl!"Faye exclaimed as she held onto a pole.
We were coming up to the entrance again, so I started to prepare them with a count down.
"One! Two!"I started trying to calculate my timing.
"If I die you're paying my hospital bill!"Ace shouted right before I shouted three.
I timed to opening perfectly, everyone jumping out I time. It looked painful, but I couldn't think of that right now I had to just keep on driving until they came out again. I mentally congratulated myself as I took a sharp turn and started to do circuits again.
