Chapter 15

Labyrinth of Buses

Scarlette

As soon as I ran through the gates, finishing off with a Walker, I received a highfive from Ace, which I rejected with a face, before diving in to a sea of buses. I continued to run though, as soon as I stopped I turned only to see a bus closing off where I had just come from. What the hell?
chikushō! I hear a loud crashing, causing me to head away from it straight into Claude and Katrissa. Claude fell back landing on his butt in a very cliche anime position... such an Uke
"F*ck! What the hell you two?!"I shouted as I stood up brushing myself off.
"What the hell was that sound?" Katrissa asked ignoring my exclamation.
"I don't f*cking know! I thought it was you two. Maybe the others are being idiots... Well they already are... But you know what I mean." I smiled as I hit Katrissa on the back.
"I know what it is... The Walkers can drive... kind of... and a few of the infected are in some of the buses driving around. I saw one, they can drive just not very well, but if they spot you, their instincts will kick in and, basically will try to hit you with their vehicle. I saw one try to get Alice and the others."Claude pointed out innocently.
"Well then, we should probably move our asses then."I sighed as I picked up my bag of supplies and sword, heading ahead to try and find a way to the main building.

Eventually we found an entrance, two broken glass doors, crimson rivers threading through the cracks. Katrissa and Claude both had long distance weapons so they weren't very helpful at this point, since I needed a bat.
"Stand back... Like very far back unless you want to be squired."I warned them as they stepped all the way back.
I flipped my sword around, so the blade pointed backwards as I tried to break the glass with the handle with out cutting myself.
"Why don't you put it in it's sheaf first?"asked Claude kindly.
"Shut up."I answered back, mentally face palming at my own idiocy... I must be catching it form these idiots.
I slipped my sword in it's holder, and swung it straight into the glass creating a big enough hole, so that we could climb through it without cutting ourselves. As soon as I was satisfied with the hole I had made I stepped through it, my long light brown hair getting dragged along the sharp glass that lay at the bottom of the hole. Claude and Katrissa came through straight after me as we immediately stepped into a blood soaked mat. I swore underneath my breath as I stepped off the wet mat onto the slippery 'white' floor, crimson rivers flowing through the floor. The hallway before me looked like one from a horror movie, the white light falling off and flickering on the ceiling. To my left was a reception with shelves behind it, locked metal lockers behind it, and to the right was another hall way but seemed endless with no light at all. As we cautiously walked down the hallway, straight ahead, I was more scared of the light actually falling on me than something jumping out from the doors on the sides.
"Frick!"Katrissa swore as a door swung out open hitting her in the face, behind me.
I immediately spun around bringing my sword down into the head of the rotting figure, facing me. It fell to the floor as Katrissa stood up, Claude Immediately slamming the door shut. She stood up with Claude's help as she rubbed her forehead, her Glasses a little cracked. We all still stayed quiet still not knowing where the hell we were heading. Like what f*cking kind of supplies were we suppose to find in a f*cking bus depot???
"Remind me what the hell we're suppose get?"I finally asked as I turned Back to them.
"Supplies!"Claude answered simply with that perfect smile.
"Like???"My patience wearing thin.
"Uuuhh... Good point. I didn't think that out. Shall we just go back and help out the others?"Katrissa eventually said giving up.
"Good idea!" annoyed I turned around, Claude leading the way.
I noticed Claude's hair was on the long side, probably just long enough to tie up. And since he had supper thin silky hair, he should look just like an anime character!
"Hey Claude! Why don't you tie up your hair?"I asked as I jumped on to him, putting my hands on his shoulders.
"I guess..."he smiled back as I pulled his hair back tying it in a mini pony tail with Suki's hair tie.
I can't sympathize or empathize with people well just I could tell that some how by doing that it comforted Claude. He probably felt closer to Suki or some shit like that.
"Oh my gosh, you look so cute!"Katrissa placed both of her hands on her cheeks with a huge grin on her face.
We continued to walk back until we climbed through the glass doors and back into the labyrinth of buses. I sighed as I looked at the dreaded sight. I really did not want to deal with it then, so Claude led the way through, followed by Me then Katrissa. As we walked casually I looked up at the tops of the buses trying to see if maybe we called just climb on the top of them and just jump from bus to bus. But for that one second when I turned to look back my vision two the left I noticed a bus speeding towards us at a ridiculous speed.
"Claude!"I screamed as I reached out before me grabbing hold of his wrist, quickly pulling him back past me.
But all I saw was his innocent smile turning back from me as his arm was ripped away from my fingers along with his face from my vision. All I was face to face with was the side of the bus still speeding past us for a second but quickly past. At that moment everything had happened to fast for me to even process it. My whole body went numb my fingers shacking along with my whole body.
"C-C-Cl-l-la-a-u-ud-d-de-e-?"I stuttered as my vision shook, turning my head to look down on the floor.
But all I witnessed was a bloody track. My some of my senses coming back, I started to smell the familiar fresh metallic smell of blood, making me sick to the stomach, knowing it was Claude's. Not being able to comprehend or believe what I saw, I took a shaky and unstable step forward, looking down the path the bus had left. There on the floor lay a bloody mess, bloody flesh and bones crushed and drowned in the crimson liquid. Among the red sea sat hardly a human figure, with a familiar crushed face. His eyes were still wide open, his skull mostly crushed, little white bones cloaked in blood sticking out. Among the scarlet puddle were bloody damaged organs with different crushed sharp 'white' bones sticking out of them, the pathetic thin skin almost attempting to hide the gore that stuck out. Only then did my mind finally comprehend it, my knees buckled as My legs turned into silicon, landing in the the bloody tracks of his blood. I noticed that, I, myself was not the only thing with blood on it, splashes of blood printed on my clothes and body.
I finally screamed, all my emotions just crashing into one.
There was a part of me that some how enjoyed the sight, but most of me just couldn't stand it. I had watched, read it, seen it in manga but seeing an innocent friend in this state, was too much. Tears filled my eyes and drew patterns down my cheeks. There was a loud clang as I stopped gripping my sword, dropping it next to me, my bloody hands nursing my face. I suddenly heard a lot of shouting from familiar voices as foot steps and crashes started to come closer. Soon enough to my right the footsteps came to a stop, with a gasp, the person looking at the blood bath to my left. Whoever it was must've had to just take it in quickly and swallow it fast... Just how I would expect Ender to do. Soon enough I did feel her warm arms pull me up trying to comfort me with an awkward hug.
"Y-You s-su-uck-k at hu-ug-g-gs, E-End-der-r."I was able to say in-between a hiccup.
"Shut up!"she snapped as he turned to look up at her:
"C'mon guys we gotta get back before the Walkers start to come!"Alice ordered as she helped Katrissa up with Faye as they all looked white faced.
"We caught up with the others, we gotta look for the number plate XXY•969."Ender spelled out as we started to head back into the maze.
•~^*•+•*^~•
With Ender's support we finally reached the correct bus. Echo was already in the drivers seat ready to role as we got in.
"We were wondering when you guys were gonna turn up."Dean smiled as we all walked in.
But everyone's smiles quickly faded as they noticed what state we were in and the missing person. They had luckily chosen a bus near the gates so soon enough we were back on the road driving straight ahead. Ender sat me down as I tried to get my heart beat back to normal and my body to stop shacking. But of course f*cking Blake needs the whole thing spelled out for him.
"Where's Claude?"he asked staring into the floor, almost waiting for his doom.
I looked up slightly to see what Katrissa was going to say but all she did was sob into Ace's shoulder, as tears also fell from his eyes, knowing what the answer was. Faye sat with Alice both of them looking like ghosts about to puke. Blake opened his mouth to ask again when I lost my shit.
"Where f*cking hell do you f*cking think he is? He's f*cking dead! What do you need me to spell it out for you? D-e-a-d! Are you f*cking stupid? What the hell's wrong with you!"I snapped almost chocking o my own words from my sobs.
"Don't f*cking talk about his death like that! What the hell's wrong with me? What the he'll is wrong with you?!"Blake shouted at me angrily as stood up, and grabbed me by my collar.
I started to notice how glassy his eyes seemed, and soon enough tears were rolling down his cheeks.
"You knew what the f*cking answer was, then why'd you ask? You f*cking sicko! You weren't there! You didn't have the chance save him. You didn't witness it! You didn't have his f*cking wrist ripped away from you! You don't have his f*cking blood on you!"I shouted back, grabbing hold of his collar as tears pour down my cheeks even more.
But before Blake could even let another sound come out of his mouth, surprisingly Faye stepped in the middle of us. Ender placed a sturdy hand on my shoulder as Dean grabbed Blake.
"Claude wouldn't want Us to fight."Faye simply stated.
"What do you f*cking know? Who the f*ck do you think you are? You weren't even friends wit-"Blake shouted angrily at her as Dean tried to hold him back.
"You know what I know? I know a beeping innocent guy when I see one! I know what he thinks for he rarely opens up to people. But when he does he explains a lot. And I know by a fricken fact! That Claude would not want us, not just you two, ANY of us, to fight!"Faye shouted back as Ace agreed.
Finally Blake backed down as I also sat down next to Ender again.
"This is a f*ckin zombie apocalypse, ok? People are going to die. And they aren't going to die in vain. They aren't going to be forgotten. We've just got to keep it together and live and fight for them."Echo said from the front.
An few hours passed of silence, until finally night came. We ate in silence. Changed shifts in silence. We did everything. In silence. It was the most beautiful 'sound' I had ever heard. But when it got late and Faye and Ace sat together, Echo sitting with Katrissa, the silence was broken. I'd noticed, along with everyone else. That also last night, before Ace and Faye would sleep they would say prayers together. Honestly I never really understand why they believe in god, for the bible is completely un logical, and how can they still have faith at a time like this. Yet they still waste time together saying prayers. Soon enough I found myself drifting off into an uncomfortable sleep, leaning on the side on the window, my head phones covering my ears.
