Chapter 28

Oh Shit Yeah! The Elevator!

Ace

A/N ok yeah I'm sorry I always do Ace, but I can't help it! He's the easiest one to do! ... That's what she said... ANYWAY! onto the story!!!
"Stop! Ace! ACE, STOP!"the voices shouted at me.
My eyes immediately widened, as tears started to stream down my face. Blood. Just blood. Was all I saw. Next thing I know my chest tightened and I couldn't get air into my lungs.
"I-I can't breath!"I gasped before falling to the side, clutching my chest.
My whole body was shaking, along with ragged breaths. A warm hand was suddenly placed on my shacking figure, followed by calm instructions.
"Ace. You need to stay calm. Take deep breaths."Echo instructed, staring me straight in the eyes.
She rubbed my back slowly as Katrissa tried to take me through breathing back to normal again. For a moment, my breathing finally calmed down, but not for long. My deep bloody hands got into view, only making my chest close in, my head started throbbing and before I even processed it my panic attack got even worse. Something was stopping me, the tightness in my chest made it impossible for me to breath, clouding my mind, making me light headed. My eyes were squeezed shut, my mouth begging for air to enter my lungs. Soon enough, a cold blank feeling took over my mind, shutting down my body.

...
"HEY DUMBASS!"I felt a strong fist nudge it's self into my skull.
"Ouch!"I winced looking up to find myself in a never ending darkness.
But in front of me stood Ender and Scarlette.
"You dipshit! Get off your f*cking ass and get in the goddamn lifts! We put a lot of f*cking effort into getting those f*cking keys so you better f*cking use them!"Scarlette swore, while pointing at me accusingly.
I knew by seeing them like this, here within the darkness... They'd gone to far for us to save them.
"H-How many times did you say 'f*cking' in that?"I laughed, trying to hold back the tears trying to break free.
"Ura Sai!"she snapped.
And like a mother's arms wrap around her child, these simple insults were turned to warm memories, coating my heart.
"I-I'm s-sorry..."falling forward onto my hands and knees, I clenched my hands into the darkness, chocking out my sobs.
I couldn't help them. I couldn't protect them. I was just too weak. And here I am beig weak, pathetic and worthless once again. I'd let them whither away just like the others; Claude, Suki, Alice, Dawn... And Faye.
"What're you apologizing for?!?"Ender shouted, snapping me out of my sorrows.
"That move you pulled back there with Tash... Honestly was pretty cool. Didn't think you could ever pull something off like that!"I stared up at them with wide eyes.
Getting a compliment from them was like the biggest achievement ever. It was rarer then a blue moon if that was even possible! But that just caused my tears to flow even more.
"Plus! Knowing Katrissa and Echo, they probably enjoyed that! Like they probably thought that was badass!"
"And don't ever! Think that you're lower than us for killing her! If we were in your position, then HELL YEAH, I WOULD STAB THAT BITCH! Killing her was like killing all those other people. Don't let it get to you. The Walkers were threatening your life and so was she."Scarlette swung her arm madly mock stabbing.
"Didn't like her anyway."Ender shrugged.
"T-Thanks guys..."I smiled as Their figures started to fade.
"I wonder if there's yaoi in the afterlife..."she pondered as Ender gave out a loud sigh while face palming.
"Oh. Tell them We're dead, obviously! Plus make sure Echo watches Hetalia! And now Ender's stuck with me for eternity!! I'm forcing her to watch. Every. Fucking. Hetalia. Video. Ever." Scarlette's eyes widened with malice, as she rubbed her hands together 'evilly'.
She followed her 'evil plan' with an overly dramatically fake laugh, which quickly changed to her actual laughter. I joined in, with the laughing until Ender couldn't help but smile as well.
"Jaa ma ta ne!"They turned away to face the darkness, waving with their usual smiles.
"See you guys!"
"Not too soon though, otherwise I'll rise from six feet under and kick your ass!"they both shouted back.
I watched their figures continue to walk further and further until they'd completely dissipated.
"Crap!"I woke, my eyes blinking straight open, trying to fix myself back to reality.
"ACEY!"they both cried, suffocating me in a hug.
"That thing that you pulled back with Tash... That was badass! Don't put yourself down for it. Anyone would've done that!" Echo grabbed my shoulders, attempting to stare me in the eyes as I tried my hardest not to make eye contact.
"Buuuttt... I would've taken off her head."Katrissa added with a wink as I caught her tight killing hug.
"Plus, Ace! Look at us! We're all f*cking insane psychopaths!"she laughed while doing her famous wink, as Katrissa wiggled her eye brows in the background.
"Hahhaha! You guys are the best! ...Ender and Scarlette were right..."I smiled as tears started to fall once again.
They stared at me strangely for a moment not sure of what the f*ck I was talking about.
"... Oh yeah..."My heart dropped into my stomach.
I had to tell them that they died. It was something I would never want to have to hear myself say. I didn't even have time to think it out.
"Scarlette and Ender... They were taken."I finally choked out.
It wasn't the exact words 'Scarlette and Ender died', but I knew they knew what I meant. They're eyes quickly filled with tears, dripping down their faces as I quickly joined them.
"I-I talked with them... Before they died they were able to get the keys to the upper levels via lift. Noting the direction they travelled in when we split up, the key's are probably in lift to the right."I nodded my head towards the right hand side.
"Well C'mon then. They wouldn't want us to just sit here and mourn."Katrissa spoke up as I both gave them a hand.
"There aren't lifts on this level. If we take the fire stairs up we'll reach a floor with the lift we want, since we're on the right side of the building."Echo planed out as we all started a slow jog.
All I wanted to get out were the images of the deep red blood staining my skin. I tried a casual conversation which they easily got caught on with, making it easier for me to clear my mind. When we reached a bright blue door that we'd seen over 69 times we all sighed in relief from climbing all those stairs. We were tired and had no rest, we couldn't have stayed back where we were before because the scent of blood would draw too many infected. Katrissa carefully reach out for the cold silver handle, turning it quietly before peeking ever so slightly into the next floor.
"Frick!"she whispered harshly as she stepped back to us, her back pressed against the door.
"What is it?"We both leaned forward wanting to catch a glimpse of what was behind the door.
Peering around the cold wood we noticed the packed corridor at the end, splitting into to the left and right but straight ahead stood the elevator. There seemed some to be corpse many corpses piled along the floor, making it almost impossible to see the clear colour of the floor, on ripples along the hick blood. Propped up against the wall leaned a hardly recognizable corpse, like the others, disfigured b the many Walkers that fed off her. She looked as if she died a human, I couldn't really tell what she even looked like for her face was mostly mauled off and there was an infected in the way of my seeing anymore of her. But as soon as it stepped aside my heart shattered. I recognized her bloody, ripped clothes, her pail skin that had been mostly slathered with the thick swarming blood. But the worst of it were the still crystal clear butterfly hair clips, fallen with her hair, shinning in a pool of her blood and hair. What was left of Scarlette continued to state endlessly towards us, her head tough, was mostly taken off the muscle and bone exposed. Along with a disfigured hand still in tact with her sword. Stepping back behind to 'safety', I slapped my hand over my mouth trying to keep the bile from spilling. But where is Ender? Did she journey further on by herself? It wasn't long for the others to realise and notice as well, joining me over the railing, trying to keep what little content we had in our stomachs. No one should have to see their friend like that, no one should have to go through any of the shit we were going through! Breathing in and out carefully, Katrissa spoke up.
"Let's just Frick our way through."she proclaimed, leaning away from the railing, using my shoulder to support her.
We both nodded as our serious faces clicked on. Grabbing my hedge cutters, one in each hand, I prepared myself, making sure my emergency weapons were in easy access, but only after making sure Katrissa and Echo were also prepared.
"Ready?"Echo asked as we all breathed in together.
"I love all you guys."I smiled weakly at them as they returned my exact smile.
"Don't worry. We'll make it."they reassured me, but their eyes betrayed their words.
"On 70..."Echo commanded.
"Why 70?"
"You just chose that number so you could say 69, didn't you?"
"65...."She started, ignoring our comments and questions.
"66..."
"666!!! Devils number!"I exclaimed but kept my voice down.
The Fear and panic pumped through my body, immediately making me want to piss. Which was the last thing I wanted, me pissing my pants.
"68..."I caught on, as I broke back into listening to he count down.
"69!"she exclaimed and for a weird reason I just went and ran.
Swinging the door open in front of me, I started straight into battle.
"Holy crap, Ace! I said on 70!!! Not 69!!"Echo scolded, running to my side as she slid the meat cleaver underneath an Infected's neck, taking off it's head.
"Well I'm sorry!! 69 is just my 'go' number!"I shout back, slamming the blades together as my clothes quickly get drenched once again.
"I can see where that comes from."Katrissa wiggled her eye brows at me, before slamming the side of her gun into It's head, burning it's face off with her bleach.
The plan wasn't to kill all the infected in the area for that would be simply impossible, but was to just clear a path to the 'safe grounds'.
"Get. The. F*ck. Off. My. Grill!!!"I shouted slamming the blades into an infected with every word.
"What about grills?"Echo laughed curiously, her brows Furrowing as she only caught a few words.
"Well they were all up on my balls, so I was like 'Those are my balls!'"The two girls both laughed questionably at my response as I soon joined them in their sea of laughter.
That's when all of us saw Her She wasn't separate from the others but it almost felt like that. She was hardly recognizable but we all noticed some of her long black hair intact along with the same messy clothes and finally her silver hair clip. We all tried not to get distracted, for loss of concentration would be the worse. But soon enough Katrissa engaged in a battle with her. In noticed with every move she made there were small hesitations.
"Katrissa, your enemy are hesitations!"Echo shouted over her.
Within seconds of her words, she took the final blow, driving her spare blades in our infected friend's head. Her hands were quickly cloaked with bloody as she ripped her hand away, continuing back into battle. Ender is already dead I told myself before continuing.
We'd always have light conversations while we fought. Not distract each other in a bad way, but to simply take our minds off the fact that we were still killing people in a way.
"Quick hit the f*cking button!"Echo shouted as Katrissa slid forward pushing her sharp finger nail into the glowing 'up' button.
It was getting hard to hold them back, the mob of infected were at an unsafe distance from us. There really wasn't any point in killing them, for a soon as one died, it's place was quickly taken by another infected. The life saving 'ding' rung through our ears as the metal doors parted, exposing the small elevator room. On he floor lay a bundle of different keys, all tainted with muck and blood. As soon as we ran in, Katrissa and Echo ran towards to the buttons on the side, holding down a button to keep the doors shut. Unfortunately it didn't just work like that. The Walkers were too close to begin with, plus they were fast enough to follow us. Their hands and arms were blocking the doors, trapped in between them. The lift wasn't strong enough to cut them off, but we could've just let the lift take off like it was now, severing their arms.
"Guys, will the lift just take off like it is now?"I ask scanning through the buttons.
"No, cause 'safety proportions'."
"Plus, even if we could just go on without them, they could pry the outside doors open, meaning they could have access to outside of the lift, potentially killing us. You know how an elevator works right?"I listened to Katrissa's explanation, imagining what I've seen on how an elevator works in movies and those see-through ones.
"Did not think of that..."I finally answered, after a moment of silence.
Stepping back, I took in the whole picture, allowed possible ways to get free safely, run through my mind. But after what seemed like hours, I'd finally decided on a 'plan', that I knew would've at least pasted through their minds a few times as well. Buttoning up my huge denim coat, I know denim eew who even designs those, I dunno, I stole it front some shit shop. Pulling over my hood from my inner jacket, slipping on a pair of leather gloves and knotting the scarf around My neck. I was prepared. The others were to preoccupied with trying to keep the doors shut along with thinking of ways to move our asses.
"Stay strong, and I love you guys."stepping forward I pressed my leather covered fingers into the button to open he door, allowing the trapped limbs to quickly re freed. Before they could even react I pushed forward, spreading my arms out on either side as if trying to give the whole mob of them a hug, as I pushed off towards them freeing the doors as they closed behind me. I'd heard them calling my name but it was too late now and the only way. Never thought I would die by zombies. But hey at least I should try to survive.
"You're going to have to work for your food! Gotta move dem legs!"I shout as I push further into the mob, swinging and cutting randomly.
They all grabbed me and pulled me back, only making me push harder, and soon enough a droplet of blood fell in my trap.
"Well then. F*CK THIS!!!"I shouted using every last bit of strength I had left.
"SO NA MAKENE TE NO NAKAMEKENEEE UTSU NOO CHI!"I shouted in my own made up language inspired by what was suppose to be a Japanese opening.
Faye and I use to sing our favorite anime openings together, or just random songs in general. When ever we'd do something epic we'd sing Japanese openings and head bang. My clothes, protection were ripped from me as I felt many sharp pains stab into meaning they sunk their teeth into my flesh. But still not for a moment did I stop fighting or trying to run. When I knew it was my time. When I knew I would either get eaten alive of infected. Tears filled my eyes. And I murmured two words.
"I-I'm s-sorry..."
And for a moment... Just a moment... I felt... I felt my sister fighting beside me...

A/N YEP FOLKS! ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!
Ace got a like thought out death which was different to the others since they were more like bam bam bam, but now that we're comic to the last few people the death'll be more thought out and shit. Sorry this was really carpily edited...
