I fell forward, almost landing on my face as I quickly turned around to see what Dawn was shouting about. But all I saw was a crimson snake slivering towards me from underneath the fallen board. More crimson liquid continued to flow out from underneath and towards me, until it finally reached my foot. Visible among the red puddle was a twitching hand reaching out towards me covered in its' owners blood. The blood finally stopes seeping and creeping towards me, knowing who was underneath that board, just made me feel worse.
"We need to move!"shouted Scarlette, taking initiative.
Ace quickly tried to snap out of the horrid moment as he grabbed me and Scarlette, Dean.
But as I turned back one last time I noticed Dean grabbed something before getting dragged away by Scarlette. I ripped my eyes away from the sight and picked up my own feet running beside Ace evenly. When we reached the car park all we heard were continues screeching and shouting.
"Shit! They're coming!"Scarlette shouted over her shoulder as she drew her katana.
I watched as Alice carefully timed the opening of the doors to where we were.
"Stand in a line. We jump at the designated time using common sense!"I ordered as everyone did what they were told, Dean panicking as Ace tried to help him by his side.
I felt the cool air hit me as I dived forward through the doors and up out of the way for the next person. The doors just in our faces as we watched the floor move quickly away from us and the sunlight blind us from outside. Everyone hurried over checking if we were ok and helping us up. All the rushing and adrenaline, didn't allow the feeling to hit me. But only then did I notice the tears falling from my eyes. My body had caught up before my emotions did. Ace quickly seated me as he drew me close to his chest, Katrissa sitting next to me as well. Only then did I feel a little tap on my shoulder. Ace slid his arms off me as I turned to the attention seeker.
"Here."Dean simply said to me, his eyes glassy with tears.
In his hands he held 'Divergent', the book Dawn had been reading. The cover was tattered and the pages were dipped in her blood, but some how that didn't disturb me, more than anything it almost comforted me that I had something that reminded me of her by my side. I brought the book close to my chest, resting my chin on the top, allowing the waves to roll in and the tightness in my chest settle in. I found it hard to breath but some how kept it steady. Katrissa and Ace still sat be my side gently stroking my shoulder. We all sat in silence our heads bowed down. I flipped open the book, my fingers slightly stained from the delicate red pages. I'd remembered when I first met her in the library and we shared all our crazy fandoms. In my blurry vision I watched my tears soak into the already damp pages, washing away the blood lightly. She had saved me from death, sacrificing hers in the process. I bowed my head into my hands, continuously apologizing to her in my head. Katrissa Immediately Draped her arms around me, trying to comfort me. But in the state I was I couldn't feel her warmth, only my ice cold sweat. Guilt just continued to stab my Chest continuously breaking my breath. The remorse that flowed me was so amens, I just felt like giving up. What is the point of living anymore? I'm already suffocating now, so why don't i just let go now?
"Hey Echo! Don't think like that! You'll just have to live for the both of us now... Which means yo have to read all this books for me as well! I'll make a list of books for you!"Dawn's voice echoed through my mind as my eyes widened.
I couldn't help but smile as more tears poured down my face. Still as optimistic and innocent as usual
The happy memories brought a smile to my face. We all had to forget the dark and sad ones and treasure the bright and happy moments, deep in our hearts.
"T-Tha-ank-k y-y-you D-Daw-wn-n." cried into Katrissa's shirt.

Days had past since Dawn had... Past away, only then did I realise, Death. It was all around us. Everywhere you bloody stepped was death. I wondered how my family was just like everyone else. But the sickening feeling of them already being dead haunted me. Ace was probably the luckiest out of all of us, having a family member right by his side. Somedays We would just stay inside, other days we would have to go scouting and looking for food supplies. Rarely we would find survivors, in fact we hadn't come across any, only packs and packs of Walkers. It always made me wonder if we were the last of humanity... Which means humanity is basically screwed. But then has this virus reached other countries? Was it only Australia? I put my questions and wonders aside for suddenly everyone started screaming and 'partying'.
"We're finally in Canberra!!"Ace shouted as Ijumped up looking out the window.
The trees were covered in snow, the floor lathered with cold soft ice. Ace immediately pressed his face against the window, I assumed he hadn't seen snow before, it was a pretty funny sight though. Since the last time we went supply searching we had ran out of food, so again we had to go out in the cold. It seemed like the worst idea ever but it needed to be done otherwise we'll all starve today.
"Hey, I wonder if since we're in a different area if there'll be survivors."Alice said excitedly.
I glanced across the seat, looking at Katrissa who looked completely unamused, her fingers thrumming on her knee. I had noticed she seemed less sociable and high the past days. All of us wondered what was up, like I understand that she may be depressed from all the people we had lost, but everyday and hour that passed the sanity in her eyes almost seemed to fade.
It was pouring outside, the wind strong and the rain pounding against our bus. The rain seemed to scare away the snow, melting it away. We were in the middle of winter and it didn't snow too much in Canberra anyway, so it didn't make a difference seeing the place not cloaked in white.
"We need to bloody get supplies, but how the he'll are we suppose to get them in weather like this?"Scarlette brought up.
"Guys we need to find a place to stay or something! We can't stay on he road through whether like this. We'll wait out the storm and then head to the CSIOR!" Ender shouted from the front, as she drove.
"Find a parking lot!"I ordered, as suddenly the bus swerved to the right, driving down a driveway to a under ground parking lot.
But it was swarming with the infected. Ender quickly reversed out swearing underneath her breath. It didn't go smoothly at all, I guess she wasn't use to the new road conditions. So as soon as we started driving straight ahead again it didn't go well.
"SHIIITTT!!!"everyone screamed as the whole bus tilted skidding and going out of control on the slippery road.
"SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, SHIT!!!" The bus sped straight into a petrol station as we all braced for impact.
All I remember after that was darkness, clenching he chair in front of me and my eyes closed. I pealed my eyes open as I regained consciousness, I felt heat all around me. My vision shacking and blurred I looked straight ahead, an awful pain shot through my head, as I pulled myself up, using an unclear arm to hold myself up on my side. The floor was wet and cold, but all I could see were bright red disfigured flames dancing. I tried to make out figures amongst the blurry blaze. My legs felt numb along with the sharp pain in my head, as I touched my head with my hands, I noticed the blood dripping down my face and the disfigured object holding down my legs.
"Shit."I swore as I brought up my bruised hands to throw the object off my injured legs.
I needed to get out of this hell or it'll be too late. I would probably die from smoke inhalation, or burning. But my legs refused to move, causing me to have to drag myself along the floor to find a way out. But to far from me I noticed a crushed bruised hand twitching underneath a huge part of burning metal. I couldn't tell who it was for colours were barely visible in the darkness of the flames.
"Mpgh."I groaned in pain as I forced myself up, staggering towards the hand.
As soon as I reached it I used all my strength to throw the chunk off the dark figure underneath. Revealing the pale white skin of Alice. Her pure blonde hair was dirty with muck and blood, her figure barely able to make out with all her limbs turned in different directions, amongst a pool of blood. I gasped in shock as I covered my mouth, but quickly backed away. Tears filled my eyes. I wanted to try and take her with me but if I did I would probably end up just like her.  I'm sorry Alice I gave out a hearty cough as I continued to stagger out of the burning hell. F*ck There was no way out of this burning hell. I quickly staggered out of a flame slowly growing towards me. F*ck this shit I ran straight into the figure holding my arm in front of me, protecting my face. The hit flames touched my skin burning it painfully away. As soon as I reached the wet frozen foot path I collapsed to the floor out of energy and strength, My vision clouded with darkness.
