Chapter 26
'Patience Is A Virtue' My Ass!
Blake
"And then he was all like 'NARNIA!!'"I shouted in a childish voice while swinging my arms about.
I'd just finished telling Dean another one of my cousin's crazy shit he does. I know everyone's all really down and shit, so we should keep our spirits high. Honestly I'm hypocritical, but I'll never admit it, I miss Claude. I hold back all my sad emotions drowning it back with my idiotic behavior but in the end I just wish he was still here with us. Thinking about him brought tears to my eyes, which I quickly wiped away with the back of my fist.
"Well then..."I sighed as we came to the end of the hallway only to see a lock door.
"Shall we break it down?" Dean suggested as he started to mime breaking the door down with his shoulder, turning it into a dance as he wiggled his eye brows at me.
With a heavy sigh and facepalm, I tried to suppress my laughter. But not for long, agreeing with his idea.
"Ready?"he asked as we both took a step back, almost aiming our shoulders with the door.
I nodded in response before we started our count Down.
"I... 2... 3!"we both threw ourselves forward, smashing our shoulders into the stern wood in sync.
"Shit... That hurts..."I groaned as we both noticed it hadn't budged at all.
With a heavy sigh, we restarted a count down before destroying our shoulders on the cold wood. On the fifth try, we'd given up and decided on picking the lock instead. I'm not one to be patient, so standing there, fir what seemed like hours, with Dean crouched down by the lock trying to pick it, was not good for my health. Glaring daggers into the annoying piece of wood that stood in-between us and our destination, the door stood tall and strong, almost mocking me with it's perfectly flat-non-dented surface.
"This door pisses me off."I huffed as I turned my back on it, leaning back as I slid down onto my ass.
"Then why don't you bark at it? I'm sure that'll do something."Dean suggested, his gaze never leaving the key hole.
Allowing my head to lean on the door I started to allow my drowsiness to take over, and not long after I had closed my eyes I'd fallen asleep.
=^*•+•*^=
Waking I'd noticed it was already dark, the only source of light were the flashing lights on the ceiling. I'd thought Dean would've been finished by now and he would've woken me up to move on. But Nooooo he was still, on his knees, shoving pins, needles and Bobby pins in the small metal slit in the door.
"Are f*cking serious, Dean?"I snapped, throwing my arms in the air.
"Patience is a virtue."he mumbled back, talking to the door.
"'Patience is a virtue' my ass!"I huffed back before leaning forward into a stretch.
"You're starting to sound like Ace."
"How many times have you said that?"
"Too many times for it to be important." he sighed before standing up to stretch out his legs.
"Here. I'll try, get some rest."I ordered as I swapped places with him.
"Do you even know what you're doing?"
"Nup."I answered blandly, before reaching down into the duct tape made knife hilt strapped to my thigh with duct tape.
We all had close range weapons somewhere on our bodies in case of emergency. And now was an emergency, other wise I'd surely die from boredom. Slipping it out, I clenched it in my hand before stabbing it straight into the door. The wood split perfectly deep, reaching the other side, as I continued to stab through the door until I'd finally 'cut' somewhat of a circle. From there I stepped back a little and aimed my kick, my foot slipping right through the hole I cut, getting rid of the wood that was still connected. Turning around to see Dean standing behind me, his arms crossed with his eye brows raised as I simply smirked back at him. I'd created this hole right next to the key hole, so when I slipped my hand through onto the other side, I was able to grab hold of the handle. Pushing it down, it made a soft click before I had to hold it down while pushing the door open.
"Never thought you could come up with something 'smart'."Dean stated smugly as he strutted through the door way.
"Ah! Excuse meh! Oh no you didn't!"I shouted as I snapped my fingers in an attempt to copy Echo's famous sassy click thingy.
"Oh yes I did!"he snapped back, almost perfectly imitating Echo's snapping thingy, but trying to look sassy except his laughter got the better of him.
The flooring had changed, a light cream colour that was the same shit they use in the school kitchens, you know that kind of rubbery stuff?
"I feel like I'm in a hospital."he commented blandly as Dean traced his fingers along the white hallway walls.
"Soooo... How're we suppose to get to the... Security room, was it?"I asked as we started to reach hallways filled with labs on either side.
"Mhmm... They might have one of those weird map thingos. And if they don't then we'll just have to keep going on aimlessly."
The labs were pretty well lit if it wasn't for the fact that every light was flickering or not working. There were plenty of huge windows, some reach from the floor the the ceiling others just average. But every time the labs would change to a new section or something, you'd have to cross a bridge that was completely see through. Since it was completely dark outside the windows weren't very helpful. The shadows and dark were our enemies, neither of us were good in the dark but we still both had flashlights.
"Oh shit-"Dean immediately stepped back into me, pushing me back behind the corner.
We both watched quietly as we finally noticed were all the infected were. The roamed this certain section, it seemed like about thirty of them were all around this section. We didn't really know where we were heading so at the moment we weren't particularly sure if they were even in our way. That was until I peered back down the hallway, and down to the left right before another corner turn was the little plastic map we were looking for, nailed to the wall.
"Dean. There's the map we want right there."I grabbed the back of his head directing it in the way of the map.
"Ok... It's nailed to the wall, so we need a screw driver... Which we don't have..."
"Just use your knife of something."I stated obviously as he nodded grabbing his knives.
"We're not going to be able to take them all down with just the two of us. Is there a way we can hold them back or something... Something that'll take down a bunch of them at once..."His gaze started to turn back to the labs until it stopped at the bright red tank.
"Wow wow wow wow... Bad idea... Do you even know how to use one of those thingys?"I asked as he approached the fire extinguisher.
"Yep, back in my old school Kahl got the fire extinguisher and started playing with it and I-"
"Ok ok ok, don't need your life story gurl!"I interrupted him as he rolled his eyes before unlock it off the wall.
"We're just going to run as fast as we can down that hell of a hallway. You'll have to do the screwing while I hold them back with the fire extinguisher."He ordered as I rolled my eyes with a 'yes mother'.
He responded with a playful nudge before we both returned to the corner before the 'Hell Hallway'.
"Hey Dean..."I whispered, as he answered with a quiet grunt.
"The fire extinguisher's officially named 'Bob'."He shot a glare back at me before rolling his eyes.
"On the count of three."
"One..."he started slowly.
"Five."
"Blake, Shut up!"
"... Two..."he continued.
"10, 11, 69!"I whispered mock excited.
I know that my immature joke was more of a 'Ace and Echo' thing to say but hey, I saw the chance and I took it.
"Ok fine, f*ck you then."and just like that Dean was off into the flickering lane.
I quickly followed after him, a little shocked in his sudden change of attitude, but didn't question it. Now we would've been able to get to the f*cking map within seconds if it weren't for all the bastards in our way, throwing themselves at us while trying to eat our faces off. I ran forward straight into battle, swinging my bat into the side of an Infected's head, amazing it agains the wall. It's blood quickly sprayed out, coating the white walls red. The rotting metallic smell filled the air, a smell we'd all gotten used to but right now it was even stronger. My fighting was extremely messy compared to Dean, who ran stopped, shot a few with his 'arrows', and continued in that pattern. I assumed he would only use the fire extinguisher if emergency, and right now we were doing an ok job of getting them out of our way. As soon as I noticed the Map was with in reach, I grabbed my knives and took down one more infected before getting down to business. Dean was already behind me, holding them back with the fire extinguisher as I started to unscrew the first nail. Which was easier said than done... Without cutting off your fingers. It was as hard as f*ck since I was using a sharp object I was constantly slicing my fingers open, which then made my fingers slippery from the blood, which made it IMPOSSIBLE TO DO SHIT!
"Blake! Hurry up!"He warned, turning his head to me slightly, Raising his voice over the fire extinguisher.
"'Patience is a virtue'!" I threw back, starting on the third nail.
"This isn't about 'patience'!"He snapped back as I was in the middle of unscrewing the last nail.
"Done!"I finally claimed, jumping up, slipping the plastic board quickly into my messenger bag before running for it.
"Where're we heading?"Dean shouted from behind me.
"I dunno! Anywhere!"
"Read the f*cking map!"he shouted back, panic clear in his voice.
And you thought unscrewing nails with a knife wad hard? Running while trying to read a f*cking map is hard! Luckily it was hard plastic other wise I would've ripped it to pieces. But then again with my slippery bloody fingers it was hard to even get a grip (no pun intended)!
"F*ck this! Dean you do it!"I shouted back at him as I shoved it into his chest as he passed me the fire extinguisher.
While he ran in front of me I tried to hold them back a little, with the fire extinguisher. At times I would just use my bat but the extinguisher was more 'safe'. I glanced around to check on Dean for a second, who was busy figuring out where we were. I watched as his gaze fixed itself above the doors of the labs, taking in he numbers before looking back down at the map.
"Ok. Take a left turn here..."he instructed as we took a sharp turn to the left.
"Neeexxxttt.... Right turn here... Followed by another left turn... Keep on going straight and on your third little branch off hallway thingy, then turn left again. From there, there should be the security room on the right hand side."We both followed his instructions, taking right and left turns when needed, until we finally made the last turn.
I turned my gaze to the left hand side to check just encase, because the last thing we wanted was to miss it. Finally Dean came to a halt, bursting into the room as I followed, slamming the door shut after me. We both pushed as hard as we could against it, trying to keep the f*cking things away from us.
"Quick, Blake! The keys are on the table!"Dean noticed as he held them back with all his strength.
I quickly ducked towards the table grabbing the bundle of keys. Shit... which one is it? I fumbled through the useless pieces of metal hoping to find a key with a label. And luckily a person with common sense had stuck a label on the security room key. As soon as I grabbed hold of it, I shoved it into the key hole, trying to get the door to match up with the doorway. We both let out a grunt as we pushed as hard as we could, finally lining the two pieces of wood together. Taking the chance I twisted the key, locking us into 'safety'. Letting out a heavy tired sigh, I slid down the door, sweat dripping from my forehead as I leaned against it while sitting next to Dean who look as tired and sweaty as me.
"High five."Dean raised a tired hand as we gave each other the most pathetic high five in history.
A/N AAAHHH MY DIRTY MIND! DIRTY MIND! DIRTY MIND! D-D-D-D-DIRTY MIND! OK I'LL STOP SINGING!
THAT LAST THINGY KILLED ME JUST- JUST- 'We both let out a grunt as we pushed as hard as we could, finally lining the two pieces of wood together.' .... That's what she said. ;)
