Yeonjun and Soobin had been walking around the school hallway to try and find their next class. They were the only two people that had each other after they met each other last week.
Little did Yeonjun know that Soobin had been crushing on him for the longest time. When Yeonjun came up to him, his heart had skipped multiple beats.
He couldn't believe what he was hearing, after all the hell he had been through for being gay, someone finally wanted to be his friend. Soobin was sitting in the corner, head buried in his knees.
Then Yeonjun came up to him, holding his hand out for the younger to take.
"Hey, my name is Choi Yeonjun. I'm sorry for the way that everyone has been treating you. But, I'm always here if you need a shoulder to cry on." He said with a smile, waiting for Soobin to take his hand.
He was hesitant at first, but he soon took his hand and stood up from the ground.
"So you don't see me as a monster?" Soobin asked, he wasn't used to this type of treatment, how could he be so sure of the fact that he isn't being tricked.
"Of course not! You're a human. Love is love and no one should be judged because of it." Yeonjun said, the smile never leaving his face. Soobin could sense the sincerity in his voice and soon smiled back.
"Thank you...no one has ever done this since I came out. I really appreciate it." Soobin said, tears welling up in his eyes.
He was happy to finally make a friend after everyone left him. He didn't even notice but he had given Yeonjun a hug, crying into his shoulder whispering thank you over and over again.
And they became friends ever since that day. They were walking in the school, holding hand, as it would comfort Soobin a lot, and they made their way to the library to study until Yeonjun saw a red-haired boy running out of the library with tears rolling down his face.
"Yah! Where are you going? Are you okay?!" Yeonjun yelled as he followed the boy, letting go of Soobin's hand.
Soobin followed the other two until they met at the end of a hallway, seeing the red-haired boy that Yeonjun was talking about.
Tears were falling down his face and his breathing was heavy. He could hear the words of "they'll never accept me" as the boy was panicking.
Yeonjun had noticed something about his right eye, too. It was glowing yellow.
'He was cursed..' Yeonjun thought, enveloping him into a hug.
"It's alright, you're safe here." The older said, patting the boy's head. He was scared. His worst fear of everyone leaving him was about to come true and he couldn't face it.
"Beomgyu is going to hate me now.." He was sobbing into Yeonjun's shoulder as his eye was increasingly becoming brighter.
It had been a few minutes and the boy had slightly calmed down.
"Are you okay now?" Yeonjun asked, worry plastered on his face.
"Yeah...yeah I'm fine. Thank you." The boy said, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to burden you." He said, guilt now appearing on his face.
"It's alright, you were clearly troubled." Yeonjun said, flashing his signature smile.
"May I ask for your name?"
"Me? Oh, I'm Kang Taehyun. I'm a first year student here at Crown University." He said, his hand making its way to his eye.
The curse he had was pretty rare, it was called an odd eye. Your eye will glow a certain color and will also attract you to other odd eyes, it will agitate the eye a lot until you get special glasses to stop the glowing.
"Ow.."
Soobin had finally walked over to the two and kneeled down to meet them.
"What happened to your eye?" He asked.
"Oh..um..i-it's a curse." Taehyun said, soon looking down. "I got into a fight with my friend.."
Soobin nodded.
"Is that why you were panicking?"
The younger boy nodded, starting to fidget with his jacket.
"Beomgyu will never accept me.."
"Beomgyu? That boy that went missing four years ago?" Said a familiar yet unfamiliar voice.
The three boys turned their heads, seeing a boy with brown hair. A face that everyone knew and loved, Huening Kai.
"I know where he is actu-"
"YOU DO?!" Taehyun yelled, standing up and running over to the taller boy, his eyes beaming.
"Yeah! Have you ever heard of Magic Island?" Kai said.
"I have..but isn't that just a myth?" Taehyun questioned.
"Follow me! I'll show you." Kai walked off as the others followed him. Soon after, they found themselves at a pool
"We're here!" Kai exclaimed.
"This is a pool." Taehyun said, unamused.
"No look! There's a door right there!" Soobin pointed near the bottom of the pool, and a door placed in the middle of it.
"Exactly! That's the door to Magic Island!" Kai beamed. "It's at the bottom of the pool though. Lots of people drowned trying to get there. Why do you think the pool was permanently closed?"
Yeonjun looked over a Kai, not a single ounce of trust in his eyes. He seemed suspicious but he wasn't sure what it was about him. He just seemed fake. And the place weirdly smelled like gasoline but he wasn't sure if it was just the pool cleaner or not.
"Well.." Kai then lit a match. "It's either you take the risk and have a chance of living, or you die here in this fire." Kai smirked and soon threw the match on the ground, the fire already spreading quickly.
"WHAT?!" They all yelled, starting to panic.
"Tick tock!" Kai said, soon jumping into the pool.
"It's either we die in this fire or take the risk and possibly live..." Yeonjun said
"Can't we just put the fire out with the pool wa-" But before Soobin could finish his sentence, Taehyun already jumped in the pool, making his way to the door.
"TAEHYUN!" The two yelled, trying to reach out for him but it was too late. It seemed they had no choice but to jump in the pool as well, and so they did.
