It was after school. The five boys were sitting in a ramen shop, joking around as they waited for their food. They would do this everyday after school. Eat at a ramen shop, stay two hours after they finished, and all walked home. It was a routine they promised to never give up.
The five of them. Together forever.
"Something I've always wondered, what's a weird mindset you guys have?" Kai suddenly asked as they were all eating their ramen.
"I'm the sexiest man to ever walk earth." Beomgyu said
"Don't lie. It's obviously me!" Yeonjun said
"What the hell are you guys on? It's clearly me." Taehyun shrugged and the three of them started bickering.
"My weird mindset is that if I can't be happy, no one else can." Soobin said. Everything went silent after he did.
They all just stared at him with horror on their faces.
"Oh.." Yeonjun muttered
"Remind me not to get on your bad side.." Taehyun said, "I'd rather not die, thank you!"
"Who said I was killing anyone? I just said they weren't allowed to be happy."
"ANYWAYS!" Beomgyu yelled out, "Why don't we talk about something else?"
"SOOBIN IS GONNA KILL ME!" Taehyun yelled
"NO HE'S NOT YOU'RE NOT DYING ANYTIME SOON." Beomgyu yelled back

April 17, 2020 (1 month before the murder)
"How much longer until you have to go to the UK?" Kai asked Taehyun as the two boys walked to class.
"About a month left. We leave May 19th."
"What time?"
"3am. God I'm not looking forward to waking up.." Taehyun sighed just thinking about having to get up so early for that flight.
"Then we should have a sleep over before you go! I don't know when you'll be back so I want to live it to the fullest." Kai said with a bright smile on his face.
"C'mon! I'll only be gone for a year. And it's not like we can't call each other."
"I'm looking forward to you developing an accent."
Taehyun laughed at that and walked into the classroom with Kai, greeted by a Soobin glaring right at him.
"Oh- uh..hey?" Taehyun said with a confused look
Soobin just scoffed and turned away, acting as if he was fed up with something Taehyun did.
"What the hell?"
"Don't worry about it. It's probably because of rainy weather." Kai took the other's hand and went to sit at their desks.
"If he's not happy all of us are dead." Taehyun looked over at Kai, who was getting all his stuff for the class pulled out.
"He was probably joking about that! I find it cute how you take things so seriously." Kai laughed and turned his head to the other, who had a pout on his face.
A few moments later, Yeonjun and Beomgyu walked in the classroom, arguing. Something about promises? Who knows honestly.
"Yup. We're dead!" Taehyun just sighed and slouched in his desk.
