"Aight Kai, I got either good or bad news. Depends on your mood honestly."
"What is it?"
Beomgyu and Kai had been sitting in the middle of a library after finally getting away from the crowd of people that were surrounding them. It was quite the journey actually. They were lucky that a girl pointed towards this library where people easily get lost, it would be hard to find them.
"So about the portal...."
"Yeeeees?"
"We're the only ones that made it to Seoul...everyone else is in Hong Kong...."
Silence. Kai just stared at him with a blank face. No reaction or anything. Just blank.
"Are you gonna freak out or what cause I sure am."
"Good riddance honestly, Soobin is annoying."
"DON'T SAY THAT ABOUT SOOBIN HE'S THE ONLY TRUSTWORTHY PERSON AMONG US ALL!"
"SHH!"
"Oh shit sorry my bad..."
Beomgyu fidgeted with his fingers as Kai just stared into space. An awkward silence surrounded them both, absolutely no one was talking. It didn't help that they were in a library, of course the entire building would be silent.
Beomgyu opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. It was awkward between the two, they weren't that close. Like- at all. They never really spoke to each other in their free time, just when the conversation needed it. They didn't even have each other's phone numbers.
What was it about Kai that was so scary to Beomgyu? He was younger, there was no reason to be scared! That's what everyone else would think anyways. Was it because he's a foreigner? It's not like Beomgyu had any problems with foreigners at all, so that wasn't the reason.
Was it because Kai was so popular? He didn't know much about Kai other than his name, age, where he's from, and that he's VERY popular back in school. Everyone adored him, Beomgyu was often neglected. Could that possibly be the reason?
No one knows, not even Beomgyu himself. It was just awkward between the two, especially since everyone else was in fucking Hong Kong. The two of them were alone in a different country and didn't know what to do.
Should they try getting to know each other? That didn't sound like a bad idea actually. Getting to know Kai sounded easy, actually. He seemed outgoing with the others, why would it be any different with him?
"So..Kai..since it's just gonna be us two for the day..do you wanna try getting to know each other?"
"Your name is Beomgyu, you're 20 years old, and you're from Daegu. That's all I need to know. So I'm politely asking you to shut up."
"Okay then!"
They sat there awkwardly again. Maybe the reason Beomgyu was so scared of Kai is because he snaps so suddenly?
'I don't what his problem is but I need him to not take it out on me.' Beomgyu thought as he just drew on the table.
"Hey! Sorry about the whole crowd back there. Lots of people have been going missing recently, and since you two are some of the people that have, they're just shocked." A girl with long black hair pulled a chair out and sat next to them, "I'm Kim Hyunjin by the way."
"GREAT ANOTHER HYUNJIN! I KNOW AT LEAST 7 LEAS AND NOW 4 HYUNJINS BY BRAIN CANT HANDLE IT ANYMORE!" Kai yelled out in frustration
"SHHHH"
"SHUT THE FUCK UP THERES BARELY ANYONE IN HERE!"
Kai and the librarian were sending glares towards each other as Beomgyu and Hyunjin sat there in silence.
"So uh..what are you guys doing back here? Yknow, all of a sudden you wanna just hop back into society. Especially you Beomgyu, after four years you just suddenly come back." Hyunjin asked as, bringing her attention towards Beomgyu.
"Well..uh..um.."
"You came at the wrong time too. There's a giant sinkhole in the middle of Seoul."
"That's..actually why we came. Kai was really worried about his family so we came back to see if they were okay."
"Ahhh, okay then." Hyunjin's mouth formed the shape of an O as she nodded.
"Speaking of, can we go see them now?"
"We have to wait for the others-"
"I'M FUCKING TIRED OF WAITING BEOMGYU! THEY COULD BE IN DANGER RIGHT NOW BUT ALL YOU CARE ABOUT IS YOUR STUPID BOYFRIEND TAEHYUN." Kai stood up from his chair in anger and slammed his hands on the table, causing a loud bang to echo through the entire library
"First off, calm the fuck down-"
"I'M NOT GONNA STAY CALM WHEN THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT HAVE EVER LOVED ME IN THIS STUPID WORLD ARE POSSIBLY DEAD."
There was silence. Not even the librarian said anything about him yelling. He was just angry. And scared to lose the only people that were there for them.
"Kai, I understand but please calm down..we'll see them soon and I promise that they're okay."
"Do you understand? Do you really? Or are you so fucking selfish that you never cared about the people that cared for you?"
"Listen kid, I don't know who the fuck you think you're talking to, but this is not how you're supposed to treat someone, especially if they're older than you." Beomgyu stood up from his chair also, putting his hand on Kai's shoulder in an attempt to calm him down.
"Does it look like I give a shit?" Kai shook the older's hand off of him and sent death glares towards him.
"What is it with you and your mood changing so suddenly?! I get that you're stressed out but that's not an excuse to take your anger out on me!"
"That's not the reason.."
"Then what is the reason?! I see no way in justifying the fact that you suddenly snap at us for absolutely no fucking reason! You nearly killed three people and you're just acting like you don't remember shit?!"
"I HAVE A FUCKING PERSONALITY DISORDER. WHY CAN'T YOU JUST TRY AND UNDERSTAND SOMEONE ELSE'S SIDE FOR ONCE IN YOUR GOD DAMN LIFE."
Tears streamed down his face, he already knew what was about to come. He would get yelled at, Beomgyu would tell the others, and he'd lose all his friends again. It's happened before, why wouldn't it happen again now?
"Woah woah woah, what? Why didn't you say anything? We would've understood that a lot more."
"Every time I told someone, they called me a monster and just abandoned me in the end. Only my family ever understood me, that's why I'm so scared to lose them. Can you understand at least a little bit now?"
Kai's eyes that were once filled with anger and frustration were now filled with fear and tears rolling down his face. He was shaking. A lot.
"That's why I didn't want to know you more in the first place. I would get too attached and I refuse to feel the same pain over and over again."
"Huening-ah..I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't just assume things like that..I-"
"Are you gonna leave me just like everyone else? Treat me like a piece of trash? It wouldn't be the first time."
"What the fuck are you talking about?"
"Huh?"
"Kai Kamal Huening, you're perfect just the way you are. Personality disorder or not, you are you, okay? We're going to stay together forever. No matter what, I promise."
Beomgyu gave Hueningkai a tight hug and soon the younger started crying into his shoulder.
"You better keep your promise you fucking idiot."
"I will, I will. Now, you wanted to visit your family, yeah? Let's go now then, I know you're worried."
