The duel-haired boy turned. "Ah, Megumi, what a pleasant surprise."
Megumi stumbled her way down the cleanly cut grass, the sun blaring in her eyes; the marathon seeping into the depths of her mind, forgotten. "Haru," she said, "wh-what are you do-doing out here? On a h-hill of all places."
Hatsuharu reclined his body back against the hill, his long white jacket lined with black fur standing out against the shamrock green grass. His jewelry gleamed in the light. "It's a funny story, really." He started as if he was about to tell a great tale, but after a moment of silence, it was clear he had no intention of continuing.
"Er, right..." Megumi looked around uncomfortably, "If you-you're l-looking for Yuki, he's a lit-little busy right now." She explained as she sat down beside the aloof male.
"Actually, I'm looking for Kyo." He said, eyes staring deeply into the blue sky above. "He wasn't at the New Year banquet, so I came to him instead."
"O-Oh, that's... a lit-little shocking." The blonde muttered. She turned her head to the sky as well, hugging her knees to her chest. "Un-Unfortunately, we're all a little b-busy with school right now, so it- it might have to w-wait a bit."
He hummed, "Have no worries, sweet Megumi. I have a plan."
The girl in question turned her head like a lost puppy, her bangs drifting in front of her eyes. He still speaks like a fortune teller, Megumi mentally noted, like he's some all-knowing being from another planet. She giggled at her thoughts.
"And th-this plan... It won-won't cause a s-scene, will it?" Megumi shuddered at the thought alone. The younger boy already garnered enough looks from how he dressed and acted. She didn't want to imagine him pulling some trick with all the first-years that were running past.
"No, probably not." He hummed, looking at her with a glint of mischief in his chocolate brown eyes.
"Right." Megumi blinked, unbelieving.
A resonant voice called out from the top of the hill. "Sir! Are you alright?"
Megumi and Haru both glanced to where the voice had come from, seeing Tohru stumbling her way down the hill just as Megumi had done before her. Unlike Megumi, though, it seemed Tohru lacked the balance that the former possessed, with her arms flapping like a newborn bird who was learning to fly. She garnered more and more speed the farther down she tumbled, ending up falling on her back and sliding down the rest of the way as a sled would.
"T-Tohru!" Megumi cried as she jumped up, racing to where the girl was.
"Megumi...?" Tohru asked as she looked between her and the mysterious boy behind her who she accidentally mistook for an elderly man because of his hair. "Who is he?" She asked.
