Several days have passed since Akito made the shocking appearance at their school, and Megumi was pleasantly surprised by how well she moved on. The thought barely lingered in her mind in the days that followed, occasionally reminded when she walked past the walkway they had talked at. Overall, she felt herself moving on from the incident rather quickly, with the support of Tohru it was hard to be stuck on anything.

Megumi realized later that night that Tohru had wanted to play badminton to get her and Yuki's minds off the abrupt meeting. It was a sweet notion, for her to quickly realize the impact Akito had on them, a wish to wipe it away with a fun game they could reminisce on instead. It was an especially nice memory as Megumi had been on the winning team and she could remember how good it felt to win with her team again each time.

Still, Megumi had reached out to Hatori once she had gotten home well after the sun set below the horizon. She had kicked her shoes off in the genkan and raced up the stairs to her room, swiftly locking the door behind her without waiting. She hadn't bothered changing out of her school uniform, pulling her phone out of her hoodie pocket, and pulling up her contacts. Her green eyes had widened in shock when his name was pulled up in red, signaling she had missed a call from him, and after a quick check, she could see it was from hours ago.

Ringing his number, Megumi sat on her bed and waited for him to pick up, praying that his phone wasn't on silent. She could kiss sleep goodbye if she was forced to ponder on her unanswered questions all night. It was on the third ring that the line clicked through and Hatori's somber voice was on the other side. His voice was scratchy and sounded tired, exhaustion creeping in like she had woken him up.

"Hello?" He said quietly. There was a hint of a yawn encroaching into his voice, he was clearly fighting away slumber. "Megumi?"

Megumi hummed in lieu of a greeting. "Did I wake you up?" The girl questioned softly, trying not to annoy him by both waking him up and being loud.

He grunted back at her, "You did, but it's fine. I presume you're calling about what occurred this morning?" Megumi could hear the sound of shuffling, probably him sitting up in bed since he had been sleeping.

"Mhm. Did you-" She let out a shaky breath, "did you know he was coming?" Megumi asked the thought that had been ringing in her head since this morning, dying to know the answer.

Hatori breathed a long, weary sigh, knowing this was coming the moment he answered the phone blindly. Only Megumi would call him about something this late. "I hadn't. I found out when Akito and Shigure came back, and Shigure insisted on drinking tea. Of course, he just wanted to gossip about what happened, so I do have an idea of what Akito did." He elaborated, going quiet for a second before hesitantly adding, "Are you okay?"

Megumi stayed quiet for a while, gathering her thoughts as she sat in the dark. Her orange curtains were still open from this morning, allowing the moon to illuminate her room to its heart's content. In the beams of light, Megumi could see all the dust floating around her room, allowing the idea of cleaning to distract her. The girl put her phone on speaker as she moved to close the sheer curtains.
