Megumi remained tense for the rest of that hour as she and Yuki silently worked on their homework. No more words were spoken between the two, not even questions about the work. Megumi found herself fidgeting more than she usually would for simple worksheets, her cuticles left red and aching after they fell victim to her bad picking habit. The blonde had made sure her hands were discreetly under the table as much as possible, which wasn't a lot since she was forced to write with one hand at all times.
Yuki didn't show any hints of knowing what was going through her whirlwind of a mind beside him and remained blissfully unaware of the inflammation that was occurring on the tips of her fingers.
Megumi had finished the majority of her work by the two-hour mark, left with only the dreadful subject that was called English. She debated with herself for a minute whether to start the work now or leave it for later, knowing that she would have to talk to Yuki to accomplish anything but unwilling to break the silence the two had been stewing in for the past few hours. She felt the skin around her nails grow hotter.
What broke the ring of silence that had consumed the girls' room was neither Yuki's honeyed voice nor Megumi's sweet and timid one, but instead a loud and boyish voice tinged with a German accent. Megumi hadn't meant to jump as badly as she did at the sudden intrusion, but she was unmistakingly shocked by the childish voice when she did not know company would be over.
Yuki lifted his head away from his paper as well, looking towards her big oak door where they could hear a boy's voice down the stairs, which was undoubtedly the bunny zodiac's voice. He adverted his eyes to the girl beside him after seeing her harsh reaction to the sudden loud noise, unknowingly softening his gaze.
"Megumi, are you okay?" He asked softly, tilting his head ever so slightly to the side to see her better.
The blonde made sure her hands were firmly hidden beneath the table and in her lap before she even thought to reply to the boy. "Y-Yeah...! It j-just shocked me- me is all..." She also looked off towards her door, which now looked daunting now that it was quiet on the other side. "I did-didn't know we were ha-having c-company..." She sighed.
"Neither had I," Yuki admitted.
The silence that echoed downstairs was shattered as quickly as it was installed, broken by the sound of thundering footfalls that rapidly approached the room they had occupied for the past few hours. The two teens barely had time to blink before Megumi's door was forcefully opened, slamming loudly into the poor wall behind it–sure to leave a dent.
"Hallo!" Momiji cheered loudly from where he stood in Megumi's doorway, seemingly proud of finding the two teens by himself. He was dressed in clothes that were often considered feminine, a warm brown shirt with ruffles and long sleeves with a darker shade of brown for his shorts, which were puffy and worn with deep red thigh highs. A matching hat sat on top of his fluffy, golden blond hair. "I found you, 'Gumi-chan! Oh, Yuki-kun too! What are you doing in a girl's room this late?" He teased, strutting into the room and wrapping his arms tightly over Megumi's chest from behind protectively, giving Yuki a scandalized look. "I hope you haven't tried anything on my sweet Megumi-chan!" He cried.
