ʚ 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐡𝐦𝐚 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 ɞ
"Hello! Package for you from Speedy Delivery!" The noise of the doorbell sounded throughout the house, breaking the awkward moment of silence the group was experiencing upstairs. Tohru hurriedly stood up, collecting the male Sohma's in her arms, and sprinting downstairs. Leaving a shocked Megumi in her wake. She sat still for a moment, her brain trying to process everything that's happened in such a small space of time, duly noting the thundering steps rushing through the house.
By the time her brain caught up, she could hear Tohru franticly yelling downstairs at the delivery boy. Shaking her head, Megumi jumped up, hurrying out of the room and down the stairs and towards them. She anxiously clutched the door frame as she caught up to the group, staring at a brain fired Tohru who sat on the stone path.
Clutching a somewhat heavy-looking box, the tips of her fingers going white from her tight grip. Glancing around the door, Megumi could see her cousins sitting in the flower garden a little ways to the left. Kyo angrily yelling at the other two.
"We can't even make a good cover story if you jerks transform, too!" Tohru blankly turned her head to stare at the loud 'animal' in shock. Not realizing that Megumi stood behind her. "You're the one who slipped up first, you stupid cat." Megumi awkwardly shuffled around Tohru's stiff body, moving to crouch beside Shigure and Yuki, who sat on his head. "Excuse me?!" Kyo screamed. Completely ignoring the shell-shocked brunette beside him.
Megumi carefully grabbed Yuki from atop Shigure's head, lightly cradling him in her lap. Shakily petting his head as she tried to calm her racing heart, attempting to hush the loud cat. "K-Kyo, please, calm down!"
Kyo turned his anger towards the timid girl, causing Megumi's body to recoil from the intense glare that was directed towards her. "Shut it, Megumi!"
Saving the nervous girl and his own ears, Shigure sat up before barking loudly. Effectively silencing the bickering teens.
"Well, better to just tell her than to make up a story she won't believe." Megumi's eyes widened at her older cousin's words, shocked at his decision. Not having enough time to even think about stopping him before he turned to Tohru and started explaining the situation.
"I have a Dog spirit, Yuki here has a rat spirit, and Kyo Sohma over there has a Cat spirit. Were all possessed. Well, other than Megumi. She doesn't possess a spirit luckily." Megumi smiled shakily at Tohru when their eyes met, her brown eyes full of confusion.
"Others in the Sohma family are possessed by the other zodiac spirits, too. It's run in the family for hundreds of years now. It doesn't give us any especially cool powers, though. Pretty much all we can do is communicate with our respective animals, and for some reason, we transform when we're sick, or hugged by the opposite sex. The only exception to this rule is Megumi. For some reason, she can hug all the male zodiacs and they won't turn. It's a strange phenomenon, that's for sure!" Shigure explained happily.
