It rained throughout the morning, leaving a hazy fog covering Megumi's mind. Sleep riddled her body, seeping into the cracks like rainwater in an old building, soaking her body in melatonin. Huddled in a bulky, off-the-shoulder cream sweater, Megumi lazed the day away as she sat under the kotatsu, fighting the urge to sleep.
She was left with plenty of alone time as everyone else went about their daily business–except Kyo and herself. She'd scrolled through her phone and flipped through television channels in the hope of something stimulating enough to keep her awake, yet it was pointless.
Megumi had long since accepted her dilemma and called off her senseless journey for entertainment by eleven. The blonde allowed her mind to rest as she watched the rain come down, slipping in between sleep and consciousness for the rest of the morning. It didn't take long before she began shifting for better positions, before finally giving in and laying down on the soft tatami mat and propping her head up with her shielded elbow as a faux pillow.
It wasn't the most comfortable situation, but it was a hundred times more appealing than the thought of trekking upstairs and climbing back into her own bed. She slipped back into sleep quickly, ignoring Shigure when he finally peeked out of his room and joined her in the living room with the daily newspaper.
She hadn't expected to sleep longer than twenty minutes with the state she was in; aching back and cold exposed legs and the sound of Shigure turning paper pages as white noise. Yet, unexpectedly, when she awoke again, the rain had ceased and the sound of multiple heavy footsteps was the culprit of her disturbed her sleep.
Lifting her head slowly to peek over the low wooden table, Megumi spotted the three people walking into the living room, one wetter than the others. She rubbed her eyes tiredly to make sure what she was seeing was real before attempting to sit up.
"Haru? Is that... Is th-that Kisa?" Her voice was groggy and slow, hands digging into her eyes as she licked her dry lips. "What happened to all of you?"
Tohru, Yuki, and Haru (presumably Kisa as well if Megumi was correct) stood in the living room with water dripping from them, soaked to the bone after the morning showers. To Megumi, they looked like dogs left to play outside after a good bath.
The bundle in Haru's arms squirmed, an orange and black paw poking out from Haru's signature white jacket. Nails dug into Haru's exposed lower arm, breaking the skin as the tiny tiger pup clawed her way out of the older boy's hold. Kisa's landing was less than graceful, barely landing on all fours before she skittered across the room and hid behind Megumi's back. The tiger rubbed its wet fur into Megumi, using her as a homemade towel, much to the sleepy girl's dismay.
Haru didn't pay attention to the tiny cuts left on his arm, pulling out the first-aid kit and sitting in front of Tohru. He gently reached forward and tugged her hand closer–Megumi only then realized she had been cradling it close to her chest–and began messily wrapping it with bandages.
