It was hot and sticky. There was a constant sound of birds chirping, frogs croaking, and occasionally a bee buzzing as it zips past Megumi's ear. It was never quiet, the girl noticed, always some ambiance filtering out the silence. It starkly contrasted Shigure's house, but Megumi didn't mind.

The lake house they were to be staying at was quite spacious, with high ceilings and large windows that covered some walls completely. It was easy to see the lake from the windows, the water sparkling as the midday sun beamed down on it as it rippled from the quant breeze.

With the biting chill the running air conditioners supplied, Megumi slumped back against the plush couch. Unlike Tohru and Yuki, who stared out the window in awe, Hatori–who had accompanied them on this trip, much to Megumi's delight–stared off in disinterest. The older male leaned against the back of the couch as Megumi peered over it to see what made her friends so amazed.

"This is my first time seeing a lake!" Tohru gushed as she pressed her hands against the cold glass window. "It's so big!"

Shigure brought his white fan to his lips without hesitation as he snickered mischievously to himself. "Your first time and it's in a cabin Jason would stay in, that's funny!"

Megumi paid him little attention as he attempted to spook Tohru over some story that had been redone so many times it was laughable. It may have been conceivable if he hadn't squandered the entire plot of the movie, believing Jason to be a bear instead of a psycho killer who hid behind a mask.

Apparently, it wasn't as well known as she believed it to be after all, though. Both Tohru and Kyo took the bait, trusting Shigure's words blindly as Tohru questioned if it was a bear that come from over sea's. Megumi stifled her laughter behind her hand as Yuki and Hatori sighed, already tired of Shigure's antics.

Megumi's regret was instantaneous as she stepped outside under the blaring sun in her hoodie. Sweat collected on her brow before she even made it off the wooden porch that wrapped around the cabin. Swiftly, Megumi wretched the fabric over her head, revealing the flowy tank top she wore beneath it, showing more skin than she was used to.

In order to avoid becoming a pot roast, she swallowed her feelings of self-consciousness as she wrapped the gray fabric around her waist. It did little to help her issue, but at least it covered the back of her thighs.

Normally, Megumi would never leave the safety of the air conditioning during what's considered peak hit during the day. She was well aware of how pale her skin was, how it burned when exposed to the sun for a short time; but somehow she had allowed herself to get dragged into a leisurely walk around the lake.

It was easy to see she wasn't enjoying it, though. She brooded silently beside Tohru for most of the walk, arms wrapping protectively over her waist, not realizing how short her tank top was when she put it on that morning. This outcome was better than Shigure calling Ayame to join them, though, Megumi decided. He knew exactly what he was doing when he threatened them with calling him, how he was forcing Kyo's and Yuki's hands specifically.
