ʚ𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐓𝐞𝐧𝐭ɞ
Megumi awoke with a gruesome start. Her heart was racing and sweat slicked her skin as her shirt stuck to her skin uncomfortably. Her eyes stung as well, and with a quick wipe on her cheek, she was able to confirm she had been crying in her sleep. The leftover fear from her nightmare lingered as she woke up, taking deep breaths as she tried to compose herself.
Questions floated around in her mind with no answer. Why had she dreamed of that night from years ago? She hadn't thought of it in ages, trying to get herself to forget it entirely. Her body shuddered as she felt the phantom pain in her nose.
Once her breathing calmed down enough to be reasonable, Megumi stretched her legs and crawled out of her bed and towards the closed window. With quick hands, she opened the lock and slid the window open, allowing the morning air to fill her room and calm her racing heart more. Quickly she got ready for school.
Megumi felt a chilly breeze sweep through the open window as she changed, her white and blue spring uniform being shown off to the world. She pulled on her ankle-length white socks, sheltering her feet from the cool breeze, and showing off the multiple rainbow-colored band-aids that were littered across her pale legs. She brushed her short platinum-blonde hair with her fingers, not needing a brush to do the task, proceeding to close the window before leaving the room.
No longer feeling the current blowing through her hair, Megumi made her way down the wooden stairs, moving into the entryway to put on her black school shoes, and grabbing her black school bag along the way. She made her way through the Japanese-styled house with ease, moving to where she presumed Yuki would be, ready to head to school. Although when she reached the door she was met with a peculiar sight.
Her older relatives, both Shigure and Yuki, were talking respectfully to Tohru Honda, a nice classmate of hers and Yuki's. The two other high schoolers were also dressed in their spring uniforms, showing that they were also ready to go to school. It seemed that Shigure had said something unsettling to the brunette, upsetting Yuki and resulting in the dog zodiac getting hit on top of the head with Yuki's heavy school bag.
Megumi slowly neared the trio quietly, almost nervously, her footsteps sounding silent as she walked across the living room and towards the porch where they all stood, feeling the soft breeze once again. She stood wordlessly behind Yuki, poking him delicately on the shoulder. The prince-like male turned to face her. "Oh, good morning, Megumi." Yuki smiled happily at the younger girl before turning back to their brunette classmate.
"G-Good morning."
Megumi followed the silver-haired males' movements, gracefully bringing her sea-green eyes to look at Tohru's stunning honey-brown ones. Her eyes held a happy gleam in them as she smiled nervously at the 16-year-old, also wishing her good morning.
