I didn't have anything to worry about after that. I was safe with L, and nothing could go wrong. L and I would continue with our plan, and we were finally getting a lead, but we were in another problem; we couldn't tell my father. He wouldn't believe Light was Kira. I knew for a fact.
L and I would observe from afar and remain as inconspicuous as possible. If we did have to interact with my brother, we would talk about the most mundane things and remain below his radar. I had told L about the Death Note, so he was prepared, but he got a little scared when I told him about the shinigami. He screamed, startled, and I hugged him to calm him down.
"You mean, shinigami do exist?" he asked nervously. "Yes, honey, but I won't let them hurt you. Remember when I told you I saw strange things as a child?" "Yes." "That was the shinigami. They never hurt me or tried to cause me pain. They're mostly harmless." That was the wrong thing to say. "Mostly?" his eyes widened with fear. "Sweetheart, I won't let any of them hurt you. They would have to get through me first," I kissed him. "I would never let anyone or anything hurt you," I vowed. He seemed to calm down for a minute, "Okay, I believe you, sweetheart." he smiled. "I love you, babe," I told him with a smile. "I love you too, my sweet." he stroked my face. His touch made me smile happily; we then hugged each other for what seemed like an eternity. L stroked my hair so gently that I almost fell asleep in his arms. "You are the best part of my life," he flirted. "And you're the best part of mine," I flirted in return. He got up from where he was sitting and hugged me; he wrapped his arms around me and kissed me.
I noticed that working together made our marriage stronger.
We met with my dad and his officers to propose our plan. The plan would be dangerous, but it would work if every step went accordingly. This plan would enlist the help of the shinigami. They were very stubborn creatures, so this would be a challenge.
L and I would also strategize getting Light to confess he is Kira. We would monitor the criminal activity when Light would be placed under custody.
