I had a family again. I was determined not to lose this one.

1st Person POV (Alexandrya)

It's been a week since I was adopted. A week since I destroyed my inner demons. My back was healed. It's just really weird without my wings.

It was 3 am, I hadn't been able to sleep at all. I lay in my bed staring at the ceiling. A rumble outside caught my attention. A bright flash of light had me instantly dressed in my armor with my daggers drawn. I stood alert, searching for the threat. Nothing happened. I dismissed my armor and cautiously peered out the window.

A loud boom startled me. A flash of electricity arced across the sky. Electricity. Electricity. Electric. Shock. Collar. HYDRA.

*Memory*

"PLEASE! I TRIED MY HARDEST! PLEASE NO!" I screamed as the electricity ran through me.

"You FAILED!" Doctor screamed and turned up the collar. It burned.

"Take her to the chair and then put her back in cryo. We're done for now." He said and two guards dragged me to the chair.

"No no no no. Please don't. Please. No. please. stop. don't. stop. AHHHHHHHHHHH!"

*New memory*

"Shadow, the Avengers are in New York. They're fighting a man named Loki. Loki is the good guy, help him destroy the Avengers."

"Understood." I left. The name Loki sounded familiar.

The next thing I knew, I was in New York City. Stark Tower.

"Please tell me you're going to appeal to my humanity." A tall raven-haired man in green said. I assumed this was Loki. I stayed hidden and watched as a shorter brunette walked in. Tony Stark.

"Actually, I'm planning to threaten you." The brunette said, walking down the stairs.

"You should have left your armor on for that." Loki said.

"Yeah. It's seen a bit of mileage, and you've got the glow stick of destiny. Would you like a drink?" Stark asked.

"Stalling me won't change anything."

"No, no. Threatening. No drink? You sure? I'm having one."

"The Chitauri are coming. Nothing will change that. What have I to fear?"

What the heck are Chitauri? I wondered.

"The Avengers." Loki looked confused at the shorter man's words.

"That's what we call ourselves. We're sort of like a team. 'Earth's mightiest heroes' type thing." Stark said.

"Yes, I've met them." Loki said unenthused.

"Yeah. It takes us a while to get any traction, I'll give you that one. But let's do a head count, here. Your brother, the demigod, a supersoldier, a living legend who kinda lives up to the legend," I noticed Stark putting bracelets on as he spoke.

"A man with breathtaking anger-management issues, a couple of master assassins, and you, big fella, you've managed to piss off every single one of them." He finished and I rolled my eyes.

"That was the plan."

"Not a great plan." I couldn't help but agree with Stark.

"When they come, and they will, they'll come for you." He finished.
