As soon as you heard him say that, you rushed outside, with your friends tailing behind you along with Gojo, who kept asking what happened but you kept walking. You gripped your phone in your hand, and felt like your hands got cold since you heard the news.
On the way to the hospital, you explained what happened to erase the confusion on their faces. Gojo drove, his knuckled gripped the wheel tight, obviously affected by your tensed mood. He didn't protest nor speak, just drove silently while glancing over you when he has the chance. He looked worried.
You almost jumped out of the car, Nobara and Yuji catching up with you as you approach the doors of the hospital. The receptionist pointed what room Tsumiki was, so you sped through the hallway, passing by some patients guided by nurses. Room 187, you read and knocked on the door hastily. You held your breath until it opened, revealing a tall blonde man wearing a white coat with glasses covering his eyes. His eyes observed you and your friends, a neutral look on his strong features.
Megumi sat there, blankly staring at you, and your friends, then to Gojo, who stood beside you. Your gaze fell on Tsumiki who laid on the white bed, with tubes inserted in her nose. You watched how her chest heaved, almost as if she was trying so hard to synch her breathing. You winced at the visible patches on her arms and face, then gulped. You can't help but remove your gaze away from her fragile state. You can't stare at her for long without feeling your heart aching.
"Good afternoon. I assume you are Mr. Fushiguro's friends?" his voice was deep. You nodded, gazing at the man in front of you, who looked stern and formal. His hair was styled neatly, and has both of his hands inside the pocket of his coat, a deadpanned expression plastered on his face. You nodded, no words coming out of your mouth as he stepped inside to give you way to enter the room.
"I'm Dr. Kento Nanami. I already discussed the condition of Ms. Fushiguro to Mr. Fushiguro, so I will have to enlighten you also about her situation." he stated.
"Please." your voice came out hoarse.
He nodded firmly at your answer and cleared his throat, like he was preparing himself. "Ms. Fushiguro was found inside her car that got crashed at a bridge this morning. We never knew how it exactly happened, but the police said that she might have had been in an accident, causing for her to turn and in result, crashed her car." you nibbled on your lower lip nervously.
He gazed at the woman laying on the hospital bed, the monitor beeping was the only thing that was heard inside the room for a short while. He continued, fixing his glasses. "Her brain is heavily damaged and is the cause of her comatose. I'm afraid I cannot say how long she will stay unconscious, and unfortunately can't guarantee whether she'll wake up or not." he lowered his voice before fixating his gaze on everyone who was listening to him.
Your breath hitched at the information, trying to process everything with all your might, even though you felt dizzy. No one dared to utter a word, and it seemed like the air got tight, the tension intensifying inside the room. He continued on what tests they have to do on her and how the treatment would go, and you tried so hard to listen. The day felt unreal and you felt tired just by listening to the information he was saying.
After that, he excused himself and left everyone to their thoughts. It took you a while before you walked towards Tsumiki, your eyes fluttering as you observed her. You can't believe this happened to her out of all people. She didn't deserve this, she's a nice girl who has dreams. There is no assurance on when she'll wake up, or will she ever wake up, which shattered your heart to pieces.
